No wonder, they ain't playing Ross County and the likes each week.

If we were playing against better quality opposition, with more to play for, with better players on show, with cheaper tickets and a better matchday experience, I'm sure our attendances would be much higher as well.

Modern day Liverpool fans are not as used to success as you would think. They haven't won the title since 1990. They last won a European trophy in 2005. The younger generation of football fans coming through now are beginning to view Liverpool as more of a top 6 side than title contenders.

They also won't be winning anything of significance in the near future. The days of Liverpool challenging for the title are gone. Their main aim now is to break into the top 6 and top 4 if possible. The likes of Man United, City and Chelsea are now too strong for them and that's the way it's going to be for a while. Spurs, Everton and Arsenal are also arguably as strong as Liverpool now too.

My point is, you would have expected one of the world's biggest clubs to take more than 30,000 to a major European final. I guess the gloryhunters only caught on after the game had finished.

Yup their fans are fantastic but im meaning worldwide I think the name Celtic is more known than Borussia Dortmund. If Dortmund keep up the good work that will soon change though because they are a force again.

Not quite. Lots of Asians are passionate fans of their clubs. I mean things like Liverpool planning to sell Anfield, Cardiff changing their strip, selling stadium naming rights to companies, pricing out the local working class fans etc, etc

In my opinion the large majority of them are. They have all been brainwashed by the money and marketing power of the EPL and simply feel the need to 'support' a Man united or a Liverpool.

And that'll probably be a better atmosphere than we get at most home games in the SPL.

As I said, the Celtic support are tremendous- smart, creative, funny, political, passionate etc. Playing in a better league, in my opinion, would only rejuvenate, and bring a breath of fresh air, to the club and the supporters.

I agree about the brainwashing part, but having known several Asian football fans while at Uni (I'm still friends with one of them) I disagree that they fake. Not at all, the ones I knew were fiercely loyal and spent a lot of their hard-earned cash on their teams.

the main reason i wouldn't want us to join the EPL is that i would be priced out of a season ticket:56:

Say for example Man United are playing Wigan in a game that an Asian man watches on TV in Singapore, why is he then drawn to support Man United over Wigan?

Answer: because he knows United are far bigger, better and stronger than Wigan. Gloryhunter, in other words.

No place for politics in football. However that is a topic for another thread.

A better league, but not any better league. I'd love to join the Dutch league.

That is exactly it. The majority of Celtic fans never made a conscious decision to support the club. It was just the way it was. We were born Celtic fans. We didn't decide we would support Celtic when watching them gubbing some team on the tele.

Clubs like Liverpool and United have this core of fans also. But they do have an almighty amount of hangers on (Glory hunters) who are not real fans imo.

I really don't think Arsenal are a bigger team than Celtic . We are more successful club have had a bigger attendance apart from the last 3 years and consistently fill out away grounds In Europe . The night Celtic were in Barcelona in 2012 . Arsenal were in Germany , we brought 6 times more supporters

No. It might start that way, but it soon deepens into real passion. As a kid Celtic were only one of my teams. At some point you develop a passion for one of them.
