Aye a think its based over a 5 year period so even though we got to last 16 last year we knocked away our last 16 place in 07/08 season so back to square one lol

The only way to stop this is to qualify consistently for the CL group stages. We as a club have only participated in the CL 7 times. Not good enough for a club our size.

Wouldn't a quarter final place for Celtic or something like that effect ANYTHING next season for us? Or is it all already decided..

Another good year in Europe would see us lose 1 or at a push 2 of the qualifiers for the 15-16 season surely?

Actually the way to stop this is to remove the automatic qualification for the big four leagues for the team that finish third aka Chelsea etc... And give those 4 places to the next 4 countries in line meaning fewer champions need to qualify and even if Scotland isn't in those next 4 countries we would negotiate at least 1 less round.

    We can all dream though.

Wonder how much money we will miss out on because of these early qualifiers, since we would no doubt have been part of a lucrative pre season tour if we didn't have to play the qualifiers instead. The likes of Sunderland etc playing in Asia, must have brought in a few bob for them. We're missing out on that surely.

The three qualifiers dont matter anyway, we would always need to play 2 qualifiers. The 3rd doesnt actually matter.

If we won the League the next 100 years in a row we'd probably only get knocked out in the 3rd last qualifier about 1 time.

Cliftonville, Linfield, TNS, teams from San Marino, Lichtenstein, Estonia, Luxembourg etc are absolute cannon fodder. They'd struggle to score a goal against us never mind knock us out.

We've probably sold about 45,000 tickets at say on average £14 for these last two European qualifiers though which is good money about £600k add in selling the TV rights to foreign countries of about £100k and any additional pie, programme or merchandise like the half and half Celtic V Cliftonville scarves and it probably makes up for it. Plus we can still have the odd lucrative friendly like the Liverpool one.
