I was. A match against the Faroe Islands isn't going to be a good measure of his ability but neither is a prolific season in the Dutch league. People discounting too many other players because of lower goal ratios but forgetting we signed Sutton after a season where he scored 1 in 28. Or Larson with a ratio of 1 in 4 at feyonoord.

Trust the scouting team to have done their homework on any of the players we go for and stop creaming over finnbo because of his goal record last season and a couple of YouTube videos.

    Top man. Well said.
Can't actually believe how many folk on here discounts big Pete and big John park. I do trust that they will now buy a better calibre of player now that we have 40m in the account. I would like to think that we will sign 3 players at 4-5m that will give us more flare , more back bone and players that the younger guys and players bought for 1/2m will learn from.
Big Pete doesn't disclose a peep of info until its over the line, its call being professional. He might be tight but look across the city, they have a purse that's got a bigger hole in it than Jodie marsh! Admin in enviable for the dark side. Progression is enviable for us.

    Well said mate...

Celtic ask the maximum price for their players - but expect other clubs to sell
    on the cheap...

It will not happen cause Celtic will not spend big... every year we hope
that they will - every year we debate if celtic will spend
big on transfers and the fact is they "never" do

So why don't we get the message!!

Same here, Fifa mark the players based on reputation and not on actual talent

Which would suggest that our club is ran by good businessmen.

Augsburg have today signed striker Raul Bobadilla from Basel. So after Bremen signing a striker yesterday, it looks like they've both been priced out of moving for our Alfie... :shamrock:

I was very supportive and hopeful for this transfer, but if I'm honest I can not see this lad coming here anymore. Maybe 150 pages back, but now? Nah :smiley-laughing002:

Makes even more sense of him coming now to be fair. He has been away on international duty for the last week or so. I bet that Herenveen want to talk to him about his future before doing a deal with Celtic :50:

He should be back in Holland today?

I think that Herenveen is probably pricing him out of a move. They seen a few teams interested and the asking price went up, we are probably looking elsewhere now.

I think they're doing that as well, *.

The only thing that could cure me of my depressing, results day sorrows is the signing of Alfie!

    Let. This. Happen. :54:

£2.5 million isn't exactly cheap, to us it's a lot of money. At the end of the day we can pay what we can afford. Another run in the champions league maybe allows us to go for more expensive signings in the future, but possibly not right now.

There is maybe a lot of bullshit coming from Heereenven, but if you want to go and buy any teams best player these days you are going to have to pay for that.

How much did Billy McKay cost? How many goals will he score this season? Probably around the same as last season. Obviously we want a bigger name, but it's proof that a team doesn't need to spend big to get goals.

I stick by my opinion that if the midfield is good enough, goals will come and that's why i'd look to strengthen that area first. It could be that that could deliver goals with the players we already have.

Someone around the 1.5-3million pound market will come in from somewhere soon.

The Finnbogason deal is dead in the water, he would have to refuse a contract offer from his current club for that to change. Let's be honest, they want upwards of 5, so it's time to move on.

    We maybe have done already.

Billy McKay isn't going to happen nor should it, stop trying to make it happen.

Maybe celtic put a low bid in so his club tell him we made an offer ten alfie thinks wow I want to goto celtic and play CL then the player becomes unsettled and herenveen start talks with us.
