None of us know anything about Shakhter so none of us can decide the tie is going to be a walk in the park and therefore assume that we don't need anyone.

He looks a good player.

However, there will be several strikers just like him for a fraction of the price. We just need to find them. I don't think we're at the point where we can spend £5 million on one player - if he fails it'll be catastrophic.

We need to find a few more Wanyama's and Hooper's before we spend that kind of money.

The thing is though, it will be extremely difficult to find these players. This guy has proved he can score in 3 different leagues so far, with each league being a step up from the last. These others players you mean will most likely be playing in more obscure leagues, with not as much of a challenge as Finnbogason has.

I understand what you're saying and to an extent agree. We can't go splashing the cash yet on any random player, I agree. However, so much of Finnbogasson's history suggests that he'd be a relatively low risk investment, even at a reasonably high price.

My logic behind this is that he has history living in Scotland, therefore he shouldn't have any trouble adapting to life here. He even has experience playing youth football here and admits to following Celtic, therefore he should have an understanding of the style of game here.

He's played and scored goals in three different countries and professional leagues now, as well as in European competition, and each move has seen a progression in terms of difficulty and size of club - therefore he's not just a flash in the pan or a one season wonder.

Having watched him, he really does seem to have all the attributes to be the striker we're absolutely crying out for and I honestly think he would be an absolute star here.

 

Can't be arsed (and I've had a few drinks) to read through the thread. But all over the forum over the last few weeks I've seen people calling for us to sign him. I've checked his record and he looks like exactly the player we need.

But how much is he going to cost?

 

Should also be looking at this as a potential investment, if he proves himself over two seasons how much do you think he will be worth by 2015? He could make Celtic a lot of money while helping them progress.

 

think this lad is a must for us!! we get him and the c.l/europa league could be a tournament we do really well in. last 16 again? maybe...europa league quarter finals, with luck yes...and then who knows.
