Just goin to have to agree to disagree with some ones on here about aguero ,would rate him as one of the best players in the world.

If bale does go for 59odd million plus Di Maria and coentraeo he will be very over rated imo

Not a popular opinion, but Robert snodgrass seems a bit overrated to me. Obviously an OK player but looks massively out of his depth when playing for scotland.

Arguably Scotland's best player for me, would be at a much higher level if he had more pace imo.

Pirlo. I know he's a great player, but everything he does gets praised to the high heavens by conmentators. He also was kept firmly in the back pocket of broony in the home juve game.

Snodgrass is really good, was one of our best (only good) players against Serbia. And has been quality domestically for years.

    Pirlo is outstanding.

I would tend to agree that Pirlo is a tad overrated, mainly by the insufferable hipster crowd.

That point there about him needing a bulldog beside him is so true, look at Vidal, Marchisio, Asamoah etc they all have a phenomenal work rate and are very tenacious.

That article about Pirlo might just be the most hilariously misguided thing I have ever read. Has whoever wrote it ever watched Pirlo play? Lacking in close quarters technique? He has a sublime touch and he is a master at creating space for himself and for his teammates.

The only thing he lacks is pace, but that's not the sort of player he is, and he doesn't really require any pace to play in the position he does. It's like criticising Messi for not being strong in the air. Pirlo isn't a complete midfielder, he is a specialist, and there is nobody better at what he does (bar, perhaps, Xavi). The 'complete' midfielders at Juve are Vidal and Marchisio and, at his best, Pirlo is an infinitely better player than both of them.

It's true that Pirlo gets praise from people who think they're in the know regardless of what he does though. It was the same with Makelele. Against us he was average whilst Marchisio ran the show but all some "experts" have to do is see him play and they'll be like "great performance from Pirlo".

I'm going to say a controversial one (for us)....John Hartson. Not the most overrated player and not a bad player, but certainly not worth £6 million (well, maybe in premiership money).

His time in England was mixed and to be honest, I reckon he only had 1 great season and a couple of average seasons. He was an injury scare and certainly was injured a fair amount of time at Celtic. His european goal record is not that great. His goalscoring record in the league was very good but I don't think he necessarily added much else. Not to mention in his last 2 seasons he looked about 2 stone heavier than when he came.

The only thing that makes me love him is that he is a genuinely nice guy who loves Celtic. He never has a bad word to say about us, is always talking about us and even has a friggin Celtic tattoo - the love and admiration is clear.

Aye but Larsson scored more league goals than Boyd overall. That statistic doesn't take into account the one season Henrik played before the league changed to the SPL.
