Compared to some of the * occupying his roles then aye he is.

We have utter guff playing in his positions.

I don't. GMS, Armstrong and Ciftci are three of the people keeping him out the matchday squad.

All three are * rank rotten.

He should probably be backup to Griffiths, but I'm not having this idea he should be played on the left.

There's a reason the guy was dropped in the first place, and it was because he had a consistent run of pish performances. If anything we should just get a winger instead of giving it back to Stokes.

To be honest as much as i like the guy playing in the striker role im not much of a fan of him lumped out wide.

If RD is not going to use him in a 2 up front he might as well get a loan move and maybe come back better or work his way to a new club where he can do what he does best...striker.

We have to many players not playing in their best position as it is.

Think Stokes is more creative than anything else we have up front - he and LG might be an effective partnership. We are not able to open up defences - a bit more guile and inventiveness required. Stokes has more of that than any of the first picks.

Amazes me that a player this talented and creative can't get in a team as bad as this current Celtic one .

Not being smart now, but has anyone actually seen him play this season? I know he turned out a couple of times for the development squad, but the whole argument could be pointless if he's now a 16stone 'Father Jack doing Elvis'... :56:

So we could substitute one guy playing out of position for another who can make a better job playing out of position(on the left wing). One we had on our books and ignored while the other we went and wasted money on. Now we are getting rid of our better option.

Maybe if we went out and bought a better left midfielder instead of buying a centre mid to play left mid then you could justify Stokes not being played.

Says you, who became a Celtic fan when your countryman becomes manager. Can you ask him how exactly Stokes is keeping himself out of the squad ? Please don't answer like the rest of the gobshites on here saying everybody knows why, can you please tell me exactly why he is not playing ?

Stokes has his flaws, but he's better than most of the guys that have filled our attacking positions this season. Suspect Ronny's been told to get rid of him

Your right he is * on the left because its not were he plays, he,s a striker if he should be up there with griffiths, people go on about target men all the time, when stokes played up front with hooper they were leathal, he could do the same with griffiths, stokes has more assists than anybody else in that squad over the last 3 year or so.

Armstrong is rank out there as well because its not were he plays, all comes down to bad management, deila does not have a clue what he,s doing we have a squad capable of doing better than what we are currently seeing.

I completely agree, but that's under the assumption Deila is willing to go with two up top.

We know by now that will never happen, but it would be really interesting to see.

I think there has been a bit of an over reaction. Being a guaranteed starter for the rest of the season would do Stokes a lot of good and I think he would be great at ICT. I believe that if he done well, he would get his chance once he is back. Just look at McGregor.

When the team is struggling, players who are sitting in the stand or on the bench suddenly seem better than they really are and take on the mantle of being the answer to the team's problems. This appears to be what is now happening with Anthony Stokes. Get Stokes back in the team and everything will be ok again. No, it really wouldn't.

Would he provide us with a short term shot in the arm domestically? Probably.
Would he be a key contributor in next season's Champions League qualifiers? Nope.

I can understand why some people want him brought back into the team but if Celtic are going to get back to the level we all want them to be at then Anthony Stokes is not going to be an integral part of that. In fact it is indicative of just how poorly Celtic have been playing recently that people are so desperate for an ordinary player like Stokes to be brought back into the first team.
