I don't hate him, I just don't think he's as good as some on here make out. He's an extremely average player who has ran has his course at the club.

Your part about playing him this season is pointless. Stokes was getting a regular game because we never really had many alternatives. Tonev is just useless, Wakaso for some reason just hasn't been given a chance - and he looked pretty average as well. Forrest was being wrapped in cotton wool.

The alternatives were McGregor - pish - and who else?

Since Ronny has signed Armstrong and GMS, Stokes has barely got a look in - because Ronny has two players he seemingly rates higher than Stokes.

Nothing I've said is being negative, I'm just pointing out what's happening.

 

I think it was more a last straw with his court case and that coming up, he's dissapeared after that after Ronny was praising how hard he's worked and his league cup final performance.

I fully disagree that setting up goals is overrated or that the likes of Forrest is more creative. The last couple of months without hasn't been as good as it was with him I feel, we haven't been anywhere near as creative or dangerous the 5-0 against Dundee aside. We rely a lot more on set pieces than actual creative play.

 

I think you judge Celtic players on other, better leagues that you watch.

There can't be any other reason for you to be so negative about Celtic all the time. I think you think that every one of our players should be ten times better than they actually are.

We already have 3 back up players for the 3 behind the striker - Commons, Forrest and Henderson. Duffy would be back up to the back up, in a sense.

You just can't see past Celtic players. As I said, I've said nothing negative about Stokes. You'd realise that if you removed your head from your hoop.

 

Forrest is always injured and has a long way to go to disprove that. Commons is entering the twilight of his career and, correct me if I'm wrong, you also want shot of him as well.

I'm sure you mentioned Scepovic earlier as being one of the players who will be part of our squad next season. Scepovic... over Stokes... Really?

 

agree with you on this. Stokes is ok but don't see him improving so may be time to part ways

 

Do people really not understand the importance of having players like Stokes as back up?

Now, he might not be a first pick in future. In fact I hope he isn't a first pick in future because it will mean we have a squad of extremely talented players.

However, at this time, having a player of Stokes' ability, adaptibility, loyalty and seniority is invaluable.

In an ideal world Stokes would be Bangura next season, completely expendable because we have an embarrassment of riches in our squad.

But we don't, so he isn't. He could be very * important next season if we make the CL and have an injury crisis which is very possible.

 

Stokes is a decent player to have on the bench but not good enough for the first team if everyone is fit.

 

Well he's been fit for a few months and if he is injured, then we still have Commons and Henderson...and others.

I did want rid of Commons but he signed a new contract so he'll be staying.

There's a good chance Scepovic will be part of it, not saying I want him to be but he might be. But we'll still have Griffiths and another striker that we'll sign.

Now that he can string a few matches together, he's a good squad player.

 

You did though. I'm sure you've sold 4/5s of our team this season at various times during matches and after draws/defeats. :smiley-laughing002:

 

I do think we can get a rid of a lot of players.

 

Because you measure us against bigger leagues or against the Celtic team of the early noughties.

We do have options in the wide areas and will probably sign another.

I don't think Stokes will settle for a periphery role and will leave in the summer.
