    Lol.

If he wasn't willing to sit on the bench as a squad player four years ago, what makes you all think he'll be willing to now?

And you can't say he's 'matured' as he obviously hasn't if he's still returning late from trips.

A lot has changed in that time, and quoting that article has added nothing to this debate.

    Yes it has.

He wasn't willing to be a squad player in the past, so most likely won't be willing to be one now.

This * is going round in circles. You have people calling him * and wanting him putned then you have people saying why would you want to punt a valuable squad member then the people who want rid then claim you want him in the starting 11 next week.

He is a good squad player, has done more in a Celtic shirt this season than Armstrong, GMS and Henderson combined, has lost his place and will have to fight to get it back but he is without doubt a valuable squad member.

With the amount of dross we've had in our first team over the last 18 months if anyone doesn't think Stokes is worth keeping even as a squad member then I question your motives for this.

We could conceivably play 60+games a season (latter stages of Europe and a couple of domestic final) and our squad has to be strong, not just our starting 11.

Stokes is without doubt one of our better players in the squad, gets the job done in our bread and butter.

He must be kept on if he is happy to fight for his place.

If he isn't happy and wants to leave then he goes with my best wishes, he has been a great servant for us, gave me some happy moments as a celtic fan.

Sums it up very well Sean..

You can see why a lot of members on here spend most of their time in the pub.

Surely we should be looking to get rid of * like Pukki, Derk and the others who will never make it here before Stokes.

I like Stokesy, I think he works hard for the team. He is great for his assists. But what I wonder is. Where has his goal scoring side of his game gone? I know he plays in a wider role, but when he was a youngster at Falkirk every time he touched the ball he scored. Was banging them in, in a fairly average team. He had the confidence to try a crack at any turn. Usually worked for him. At that time I thought he had a very big future in the game. But I feel he has stepped back.

If the argument here is about selling stokes or keeping him as a squad player then I bow out.

He's (imo) not part of our best 11 however Id happily have him as back up.... Can't quite understand why anyone would want him sold, what would the reason for that be? Id certainly play him before Forrest... But not before Armstrong and GMS.

Last time he played in his proper position, up fromt as part of a 2 he scored 14 in 16.

That was with Griffiths last season.

It isn't bad. But even a few seasons ago that would have been at least 12 goals.:50:
Maybe he is missing that goal competition with Hooper. Thinking back that was a great partnership.

croogle may as well go and throw feaces at the wall at this point .

Stokes has 21 goals and assists to his name , which is higher than any other player in the squad . Important player for this squad and should not be sold.

Lol, what have I said in this thread that is bad about Stokes? :smiley-laughing002:

I've said he was diabolical at the start of the season, two agreed. I've said he blows hot and cold. I've said he probably won't settle for a squad role. I've also said he was excellent after his poor form. I've also said that he upped his fitness.

jpr the troll pops up again to twist and make things up. And, like the rest of them, will slither away when asked to provide evidence. Or hurl insults.

bringing that article up from four years ago , and then refusing to accept that players expectations and attitudes can change in four years . You telling me you havent changed since 2011? even going to big school didnt change you ?

If you think I'm one of the two that agreed, I didn't.

I already stated I can't actually remember his individual performances that well, just that the majority of the team were * then.

Have you got any proof they have changed?

He wasn't happy to be a squad player a few years ago, why would he be happy now? Especially since he's been given a taste of European football and playing in the big games.

That's the problem he faces. We aint going to be playing two up front any time soon.

He adapted well to the LM slot though, I still think his and Izzy's understanding is the highlight of the season for me.

I hope he gets the heid down and works to get his place back.
