Right now there's no reason too take GMS and Armstrong out of the team . stokes and forrest should be used as cover tomorrow being a good example of when too use them. Armstrong and GMS should play the big games cups , Europe and important league games right now.

I vaguely remembered him getting fined for turning up late under Lennon, and having looked on other forums a few have said it's not the first time he's done it.

Aye he was at it at Sunderland as well. I remember at the very start of Lennon's time did he not miss a bus to an away game and Lenny went on without him?

Some football fans have a herd instinct.
A sense of belonging is important to them
Once a single player is selected as the reason for failure,it spreads.
He is booed or commented on in the ground or on social media.
To try to belong some fans will fall in with this.

For I for the * life of me cant figure out why some Celtic fans have a problem with Stokes.

I reckon he'll be gone in the Summer.

The fact he was fined and dropped from the squad would suggest to me that he didn't have a good reason, so Deila will probably see this is a huge slap in the face.

Real shame. He was a fat * in pre-season and really slimmed down, looked to have improved his game but all in all it seems he's still as unprofessional as ever.

When has Stokes ever been booed?

I go to a lot of games and I can't even remember a single Celtic player being booed.

Same as that. Stokesy is no world beater but he has been a great servant for us. Not clinical enough in front of goal but nobody feeds a No9 in our squad like him

I stayed in the same hotel as the team in Zagreb. And Collins told me if a player is late for the bus by any amount of time they get fined £1000.

So stokes obviously took the *.

I'd say he missed a flight. He was probably due to fly out and missed the only flight out from Dublin airport that night and had to get one the next day.

    Neither do I mate :smiley-laughing002:

If we never had Stokes, Hooper wouldn't have been near as successful in a Celtic top. I remember when Hooper left I was just thinking 'I'm * gutted I'll never see Stooper again'

Those 2 had an incredible understanding. No other way to put it, it was incredible.

    Nail on head there Paul.

I like Stokes but at present it's hard to see where he warrants being in the starting XI.

He is in direct competition for a starting place now and that can only be a good thing. We should be looking to offload the deadwood in the squad not players who are consistently contributing goals.

If Armstrong keeps it up I pretty much agree. Stokes is not the type of player that is meant for the wide role in this system. However, this season he's doing a very good job in that position (even though he's playing the role in his own way) and that needs to be respected. He still has a role to play here as a squad player at the very least and to suggest he wasn't a bargain, isn't worth his wages, or that he's * is ridiculous.

Another thing that shouldn't be ignored is that Izaguirre and Stokes have a great understanding. Izaguirre plays better when Stokes is on the pitch.

Stokes also deserves a chance to prove us wrong that he can't up his game to be even better than he has been.

Is it really so hard to understand that some Celtic fans might just be of the opinion that Stokes isn't that good a player?

I'm kind of in the middle with Stokes. He's not a bad player but I don't think he's that great either. He's a useful player to have in the squad and he regularly makes an impact in our domestic matches but he's really not good enough to be any use to us in Europe. That much has been well proven.

Some people rate Stokes and some people don't. I don't think there's any great mystery to it. I can see where both sets of people are coming from.

John Collins strikes me as the sort of person who doesn't take any * at all. I wast surprised Stokes was completely dropped from the Inter game.

Chances are Mancini and Inter's players will study the * out of the game last night and try to come up with a plan to stop our players getting as much joy as they did in an attacking sense.

I'm not saying this is going to happen and I hope it doesn't, but what happens if either GMS or Armstrong are sussed out by Inter's full backs/midfielders and aren't effective? That's when having a player like Stokes on the bench can come into play, you can bring him on and he will offer something completely different and fresh to them.

I agree that Armstrong and GMS should be the starters for now but they have far from cemented their places in the starting line up like people are suggesting, they've played 3 games ffs.

Whoopy do, what's a grand when these guys are on a lot more than that!

Stokes is an okay player but a bit thick as an individual.
