sad , but if he felt the huff of the new guys coming in its up to him to change ronny,s mind and coming back late hardly helps .

If you get injured now with the strength in our squad your * look at Mulgrew his injury has led Bitton to turn into an undroppable player for us and Mulgrew won't get back in unless Bitton gets injured or suspended

When we were allegedly offered £1.5m for Stokes near the start of the season I said I'd take it and use it to buy a replacement. I argued Stokes doesn't turn up in Europe and only players who do turn up in Europe should be a 'must keep'.

I got slated by some who said we wouldn't get a good replacement for that money, so I suggested GMS.

I feel I have been vindicated since both GMS and Armstrong look the part for the same money. It's early days of course but based on last night it looks like they can perform in Europe.

That being said, Stokes has worked hard and improved and has played very well in the SPFL this season. 'The broony' is right, we need guys like Stokes pushing to get into the squad while we have so many games. He badly needs a good game in Europe though.

I agree, he's good enough to have in the squad without doubt.

You and I have defended him over the years on here, quite strongly in fact, but I cannie defend him to be an automatic starter anymore.

Big time. Our players need to be on their toes and know that there is a player who can come in if their performance drops.

He didn't come back 100% after injury and him being late coming back from Ireland has lost him his place. It's up to him to win it back but we all know what he can offer.

Wasn't it our last home game where everybody was absolutely creaming themselves at him being back and setting up a couple of goals? Swings and roundabouts, soon as we play well without a player that's normally in the team people are screaming to get rid.

    It's nonsense.

I wouldn't have said anyone was "creaming themselves" over his performance, but he was effective and done well (quite rightfully praised too!).

That being said, the 1st team is performing to a much better standard recently, and I for one would have Armstrong over him any day of the week - that's not to say I want him sold or any nonsense like that, but he has a LOT of hard work to do if ye's gonna grab a starting slot now imo.

Honestly, GMS and Armstrong were a complete breath of fresh air to what Stokes and Commons would bring in a European match.

Looking for to many more games in Europe with the 2 new boys playing.

What's the story about Stokes being late back from a trip to Ireland and missing training therefore that's why he wasn't in the squad?

Well he wouldn't just * off would he.

The club would have said he could go.

Aye, it's his place just now. Not guarenteed though.

I don't think the performance against St Johnstone was anything to shout home about. A lot of the time we just like new players.

Saying that, GMS and Armstrong I'd have on the bench on Sunday. Rest them for Inter, I don't think they have the same standards of fitness as the rest of the squad, so 3 games, 2 of which are European games might have an adverse effect. Have Commons and Stokes back in.

Never rated him very highly tbh.

Always blown hot and cold and even when 'hot' didn't really do it for me.

Still, not a bad squad player and maybe being out the team will make him work a bit harder

Delighted we have a player in GMS who can actually threaten good teams in big games instead of this bottler.

If he doesn't have a good reason for not being back on time I wouldn't play him again this season.
