    Hiddink would be a wise choice. It would be a pretty Chelsea-esque move. Take him in, steady the ship so to speak, and the board will have time to pick the ideal man. And obviously the Barca board will be a bit less idiotic than Chelsea's. Maybe AVB will show himself to be that man

    Never in a million years IMO but stranger things have happened I suppose.

    You would fully expect Barca's next manager to be affiliated with Barca as has been the norm for some time.

    Reports are that Andoni Zubizerreta and Raúl Sanllehí are flying to Buenos Aires this evening to meet with Gerardo Martino.

    Martino has also got the vote of confidence from the worlds best player;

    Martino is a disciple of Marcelo Bielsa having played under him at Newell's. So there are Barca style elements in his managment. He took Newell's to the Torneo Final this year and a Copa Libertadores semi-final.

    I think Messi would love to have a guy from Newell's (his first club) at Barca.

    But I think Barca will go for Frank de Boer.

    Hopefully he beats this * of an illness once and for all, health is most important.

    As for his successor, Bielsa seems like the most logical option for me, better than Luis Enrique, de Boer, Laudrup, Martino and other names being thrown around. Knows the league well, has great experience and his football is very close to their current style.

    Martino was manager of his old club Newell`s Old Boys. Messi was quoted in today`s papers endorsing Martino as the man for the job. Apparently has a long standing friendship with Messi`s father.

    He also has a good relationship with Sandro Rosell, the Barca president. I think that's more important than Messi's realtionship with him.

    Sir Alex Ferguson to Barca

    On a 12 month contract, just hearing a few whispers, can you imagine him with those players :icon_mrgreen:

    Wouldn't work - too many players suited to a different style.
