Not for me rex. Its a lot harder to come second or third in the bundesliege than it is to win the Icelandic prem div.

TBH, I quite like the current format of the champions league. It is ridiculous to suggest that cliftonville should get a place in the champions league over real madrid or The New Saints over Borussia Dortmund. The way it works at the moment is the best way to ensure the best clubs get a crack and it truly is a pedigree competition with great clubs in it.

There is squad turnover at every club. Even the richest clubs have to deal with players leaving and coming in.

Fundamentally it isn't ridiculous at all to suggest that the league Champions of one country should be given a place over team that finishes 2nd, 3rd or 4th of another given the historical nature of the trophy.

But the champions of every country get their chance in the CL.

I would agree with this because when teams are overspending with intent of only winning the champions league, it really make the whole competition boring because the competition isn't coming from a grass roots level.

True, literally speaking. But we don't want to play in the Champions League because we actually want to play the Champions of every country.
Every single Celtic fan would much rather play, for example, the 3rd best team in England than the best team in Slovakia.

So yes, the system is unfair, but like the wider system of capitalism it represents it's the best possible way.

I'd rather the Champions League tournament was for champions of only. I am sure others, minority or not, feel this way also.

With all due respect, my * you do!
No matter how hardcore a supporter is, there's not a single man alive who can honestly say he would rather be at Celtic park for a match against Clifitonville or Helsinki, than at Paradise versus Real Madrid or AC Milan.
It's not fair but hey ho, that's life.

Lower than Belarus and Cyprus * me. Guessing that is thanks to APOEL's run the other year and BATE getting in regularly over the past few seasons? Hope we can climb back up the ladder again.

The rest of the Scottish sides need to start stepping up to the mark in europe because the way it is now Scottish co-efficincies would be f**Ked without us

As fun as last season was, if you take that off our recent european record it is hardly worth getting exciting about. We can take the * out of Cyprus, etc, all we want but APOEL done better a couple of year back than we done last season.

No doubt the system is unfair, but until Celtic last season, we have hardly covered ourselves in glory over the last five years.

The current system works. I wouldn't bother watching a lot of champions league games if the slovakian and irish champs etc where the ones playing. I'd rather see arsenal, real madrid, AC milan and dortmund.
