Over his career? Without doubt. In the SPL? No, didn't play enough games, he would have been though

We'll need to agree to disagree there. I think you expect to much of him if you believe that.

I think people who dont go to many games don't appreciate Hooper because they don't see the importance of him and how the team revolves round him, which cant be seen on TV. Ive noticed that quite a lot.

A lot of the time, for example when Stokes scores on TV you dont get to see Hooper on the opposite side of the box occupying 2/3 players allowed guys like Commons and Samaras or Forrest or Ledley to get in and be involved in the Stokes goal... and all that carryon.

A lot of people assume Hooper stands about doing nothing except scoring which is the total opposite of what actually happens.

Watching on TV you dont get to see the full array of movement, posisioning, workrate or the dragging around and occupying of opposition players that you can in the flesh. Not that im saying Sean CFC doesnt go to games or anything but I would assume he hasnt seen a lot of Hooper in the flesh or if he has hasnt looked closely. Theres a reason Lennon calls him a master etc, its because he knows more than most what he's adding.

Have people never noticed how much more goals the midfield score nowadays? that isnt a fluke or just randomness. It's cause and effect of a quality striker occupying and linking-up well enough to invite midfielders forward and create the space for them to do it.

Not for me. I don't think he's all that good and would command a hefty wage that could be used better.

:97: Presuming your username relates to your year of birth, how many Argentina under-20s games did you see at the age of 7 or so?!

Agree with what you're saying though: I'd take him tomorrow, but the money would have to be right from our point of view.

I think a lot of fans will be really shocked if Hooper goes and the team suddenly isnt playing as well.

Scunthorpe fans know it too, one came on here yesterday I seen and called Hooper the best player he's seen for Scunthore and although Scunthorpe arent the best they have had decent other strikers or players who've done well in the Championship like Sharp, Paterson but they even know that Hoopers well out of their League.

For me Hooper is the main playmaker in the team(obviosly by far the best goalscorer too), I dont mean playmaker as in a Nakamura, just in that without him the team cant play as well because nobody can fill in what he does and be the central attacking figure of the team. Not the central striker but the one player that the rest all work off and around in the final 3rd, doesnt have to be a striker it could be a Lubo or a McGeady or in Europe it can be a Samaras. We dont have another player who can take on that same responsibility or has the quality to do it and those players are hard to find.

Hooper played up front a lot alone last season, if we just used Stokes in the same way next season. Then youd notice how the team struggle more to break teams down, the midfield arent scoring as many goals and players are just struggling more to make things happen.

Honestly would rather Kevin Doyle. He is linked with a prem team and a champions league team but he is still trying to go to QPR! Money hungry *, he should have more than enough money at this stage of his career.

For those who are in love.....
Hooper is extremely underrated by sections of our support,I don't quite get it..
Stokes I like but he's nowhere near hooper class,he is without doubt our best striker since the henrik days and will score goals wherever he goes..

I know one thing whoever we do replace him with won't have the same impact he's had, much harder replacement than wanyama although big vic will go on to greater things'

Hooper is the first player since larsson that i feel can score for us season after season.
Goals are worth there weight in gold and we should do all we can to keep the guy.

Yes, but he was not a starter at the end of his Benfica career.

Not going to quote again, but ILTC I don't know how many times, plus dev, we've discussed and agreed about hooper. Some folk will just never get it. I've talked about it with some mates and they'll never get it either.

I'll be gutted when hooper leaves

I'm not entirely convinced about that either, I know he is keeping hos options open but I think he's not 100% wanting to go.
