So, we're talking about now and next season. Amido Balde scored 9 in 27 games in the Portuguese League last year 1 in 3. Saviola scored 13 in his last 41 Portuguese League games 2 and 3 seasons ago - over 1 in 3 and that was in a better team when he was 2/3 years younger than he is now and better.

I like Hooper myself, but it seems as though everyone besides Larsson is a 'poor man's Hooper' to you :smiley-laughing002:

So people here would actually rather have Saviola than Hooper next season?

No danger. Saviola is a penalty box striker that hasnt scored 20 goals for over 10 years. Aye played at a higher level but he's way past his best. In his last 25 European games he has 2 goals. Hooper has 7 in his last 18 in Europe.

In his last 157 League games for Barca, Real, Sevilla, Malaga and Benfica he has only made 8 assists.

They really do. He's a good player but nothing special.

You just have to look at the teams wanting to sign him, Norwich and QPR. I know you could say the same thing about Wanyama and Southampton but at least he's been looked at by bigger teams.

You would rather have Saviola next season than Hooper?

Hooper's strike rate for us is the best since Larsson, he has a 1 in 2 European record. He is consistently top scorer and one of the top assisters in our team. Our full play goes through him.

    People don't rate him enough.

I don't really care whose looking at him either, that isn't the judge of a player, Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam etc etc.

Hooper for me is the 3rd best striker to play in the SPL in the 2000s behind Larsson and Sutton or 4th behind Viduka if you include him although he left in 2000 and 6th if you include Bellamy and Keane although they played about 35 games combined, im not sure where youd rate him though.

    1. Larsson
    2. Sutton
    3. Keane
    4. Viduka
    5. Bellamy
    6. Hooper
    7. Hartson
    8. Mols
    9. Flo
    10. Zurawski
    11. Arveladze
    12. Prso
    13. Vennegoor
    14. Cousin
    15. Jelavic
    16. Stokes
    17. McDonald
    18. Miller
    19. S.Fletcher
    20. Boyd

No I didn't say I would rather have Saviola than him, but I'd still take him in a minute. Yes, his stats are very impressive but I just don't like him that much as a player. Too often he is a lazy * and plays absolutely dreadful. That's the sort of player he is, he can be pish for 80 minutes but still pop up with a goal. Now while that's good in some sense, it's extremely frustrating as well. He has the ability, definitely, but it's his attitude at times is poor.

It might not mean everything, but if he is as good as many Celtic fans are making out then why aren't teams such as Liverpool, Everton or even Fulham etc. trying to sign him for the small fee of £5 million? It's just very strange.

That's something I've before, which I just don't agree with. He ends up deep in our own half both defending and trying to kickstart the team very often. He is constantly moving and I mean constantly, just watch him, drags defenders here there and everywhere. Something Kris Commons is exceptional at exploiting.

Because English teams are arrogant *.

Aye ive maybe put Zurawski too high up the list considering he only had 1 good season but he was excellent that season. Scored and set up goals for fun. He lost his pace though and wasnt the same the next season but at his best he was really good, a pity he lost his pace and wasnt as effective after that.

He missed Petrov and Hartson. Link up play between they three was excellent.

He does do that...sometimes. He's been here three seasons now and while he's been our top scorer for each season (I'm sure), I don't think he has had great seasons. He's a goalscorer, first and foremost. He does have a lot of ability, as I've said, outside the box but for large chunks of games and even seasons he doesn't try his hardest and is anonymous.

Like Stokes, he is just massively frustrating.

He's talking about how good they were, not necessarily at the time they were playing in the SPL though. Although he was top class in his short spell here.

Ah but I'm sure in your mine Jelavic, Zurwaski and Boyd are world beaters compared to Keane...
