How many should we be averaging then?

Its not playing it down its just not really taking it as being something special because i don't think it is, i would also like to see evidence we do have a scoring record of 4 goals on average a game.

In addition its in response to thinking we are a creative team because again i think its our second weakest area apart from the defence. We seriously lack creativity at times and i saw it a lot last season not just against champions league level opponents but SPL teams as well.

This isn't an attack on the team its just an observation.

I really don't see what everyone else sees in Mcgeouch not just basing this on pre season obviously but when he's played I just don't get the hype. Hope he gets on form and a run in the side and proves me wrong though

I don't care really as long as we win. It was in response to devlin saying we are a creative team. Which i disagree with i think we are very predictable and the reason we did have a 4 goal per game average is because of the quality of opponent we faced consistently over the season.

    I'm not picky.
Just saw the score and was pretty bad to say the least. Saw the goals as well and their goals were really pure gifts by crappy defending.

Their first I think Wilson was just too slow to get onto Djurdjic - I think he should have been tighter; their second was just a defensive joke - so many bodies in the box yet yet it was Klaus that nipped in at the back post to slot home; third I'm guessing was for handball in the box by the wall (although from what I saw on the grainy highlights it looked like a pretty * decision); Drexler for their fourth was our defence being purely flat-footed - McGeouch(?) (fair enough, he's not a defender but still) just stood watching him; (didn't see why their fifth was given as a penalty as it wasn't on the highlights I saw); their sixth was purely awful marking - Fall was allowed far too much room and wasn't anywhere near being marked.

At least our two goals were pretty well worked and the cross and cut-back for the first one was really good.

I'm just grateful that this is only a friendly.

Is there a more creative way to score four goals then? Or would you still feel the same if we were averaging 7 a game?

Firstly i am not 100 percent sure we do have a 4 goal per game ratio so if evidence could be shown i would be grateful, secondly i am sure you will find that a few fans maybe not all found that our play last season in the spl was boring, we failed to unlock packed defences, our team for large portions of the season home and away was devoid of ingenuity.

Thats the point i am really getting at not whether 4 goals or six billion goals per game is enough. I am talking about creativity, and to answer your question of course there are more creative ways of scoring 4 goals a game so stop being pedantic.

He hasn't played 4 consecutive games, anyone who can't play that many games in junior or * would struggle when they get in the team here and there especially at the end of games. He's a centre midfielder not a winger the fact lennon plays him at right back is a joke.

If you look through the results from Jan I'm pretty sure at home we were averaging about 4 a game.

I think the problem is less creativity and more lacking a big target in the box to finish the creativity produced on the flanks meaning we always have to go a similar route to get it in to Hooper's feet.

Hopefully Balde may add some aerial ability that Forrest, Commons, Samaras, Izzy, Mulgrew and Matthews can make use of. So many times we make great over lapping runs on the wings but have to cut back inside because there isn't a target to aim for in the box and we become too narrow and predictable.

I agree we don't fully utilise the width we do make, but when we do go straight through the middle we lack a maestro to make those killer passes.

I'd agree with that to a certain extent but players like Hooper, Commons, Brown and Ledley have all proven they can make those passes, but boxes are so tightly packed by the opposition as they know it's our only real route to goal it becomes almost impossible to play through.

If we had the target man the wide areas would be our main threat and would potentially open up the oppositions defence slightly, forcing at least one or two defenders out of the box to deal with our wide men, then when we cut inside our creative players have a chance at picking out the holes. Right now it's not an option which imo is not down to a lack of creativity but a lack of attacking options.

I was asking you a genuine question by the way.

From December to the end of the season we played 13 in the league at home, scoring 49 goals, averaging almost 4 a game, we had some corkers in there too.

Our away form was a bit hit and miss though, granted.

It wasn't a completely serious comment(hence the smiley). I know we aren't too bad when it comes to scoring goals. Pretty decent infact.

That being said, there is some element of truth in my post, There are games where we just seem to create nothing. Away game sin the SPL(and home games first part of the season) when teams are packed up against us on a smaller pitch. There are times in those sorts of games where we lack a certain guile and craft.

one thing I would like to see against Union Berlin, in that its the final game before Cliftonville, is less hesitancy in passing, the players(other than sammy, stokes and rogic) seems so hesitant and rigid in their passing.

We put 3 past Spartak in a CL away game. Theres not many teams that do that.

Granted there's room for improvement though.
