This 6-2 thrashing by a German minnow isn't worthy of over-reaction but equally I cringe at the oh so hilarious sarcastic 'Lennon GTF', 'Sack the board' comments. Our Champions League qualifier, albeit against Cliftonville in Belfast, is in just 8 days time and with the uncertainty surrounding Hooper and Wanyama; I think it's legitimate to be a tad concerned. Just a tad.

    Oh really?

So you don't think the manager and staff are studying the players during these games, or are they just catching a bit of sun by the dugout?

I'm not worried about anything new - The lack of creativity has concerned me for a while.

They're studying them in the same way as they would in a training session. These games are glorified training exercises. They mean nothing.

    It means nothing. :50:

It is all over the net at Polish & German sites. All of the coments are like "LOL", "Hahaha, unbelievable", "Wow, they scored more goals than through whole season", "Good luck in CL Celtic". So yeah. NO ONE. Look at the reality ! Every Celtic match conts...EVERY. We are a massive team and in Europe we are still recognised as strong force. But after the results like today that goes out of the window. CELTIC GAME IS NEVER A POINTLESS GAME.

We could have lost 81-0 today. We will still beat Cliftonville by a convincing margin. In both legs. Just as we will beat the other 2 teams in both qualification legs. Just as we beat both Helsinki and Helsingborgs by convincing scorelines last season.

    Life goes on.

Everyone thoguht Barca would pump us rotten last year. They were wrong, again.
I like it when everyone thinks Celtic are *. It makes me smile even more when we win, as we will.

Its only natural for any fan to be upset when we lose like that ...its not a nice result and they are not a good team .....

What baffles me is when i read lennon say that victor will be sold and he has a ready made replacement in kayal and we won't be looking to bring anyone in if so maybe one more player ...is that for real ? i think any fan of this club knows we are short of players im all for giving balde a chance but for me losing rogne and gaining van Dijk is like for like with maybe the dutch been a little better and more fitter .. but still we lack a defence ...we need to spend on someone to replace wanyama kayal is good but victor is a huge huge loss ...we need a winger i have said it for ages we always play sammy out wide and shuffle it all the time i would love to see a good crosser a speedy little trickster .. and big sammy starting with hooper or big balde and hooper

a cant quite get this whole mentality ...we dnt need to buy we dnt need to do anything ? we have a good team ....we have alot of guys on a one year contract if we have a pooor * season this year coming ill bet both ma baws none of them re-sign and the SPL is won already we should be fighting to regain co-efficient and do what we can in euro get the SPL and celtic back on the fricking map and be regular in euro it is after all what we all love no * looks forward to playing dundee or kilmarnock euro nights have hype weeks / months before and i think we are well well well short and will get humped in euro without vic and no more buys ... this is ofcourse my opinion

Nope. Not pointless. Valuable in gaining match fitness.

I don't really give a * if morons are making moronic comments.

why do people get annoyed at friendlies lol

pre season is about building fitness and getting back up to pace

seriously if you get upset about friendly matches you need to take a good long look at where your life went wrong

What is so moronic about them ? They reflect perfectly what happend today. If Rangers were SPL Champions, Scottish Cup Holders and they went out of CL Group and then lost in a pre-season against so weak team so so high - You would make a similar comment.

You might not get annoyed but not every fan is the same eh. I'm not overly fussed usually but even watching that today I was a bit annoyed. Just hope we do the usual and step it up when it really matters.

It has nothing to do with life mate. It is just a personal matter. Someone just can't lose, natural born winner type. It's not their fault that they can't accept losing. Neil Lennon is one of them but he has to stay cool in front of cameras.

    Meh, it's pre-season.

Embarassing result but it was as much a training exercise for Lennon and the coaching staff as anyone.

I don't necessarily blame the players today so much as I blame the coaches.

We went with the stupid 3-5-2 set-up that has very rarely worked whenever I've seen us try and pull it off, nevermind when doing it with 3 CBs who're trying to reach full fitness and who've never played a competitive game together before (one of whom - Moyokolo - has just returned from injury after near enough a year out with cruciate ligament damage and thus will take serious time to settle-in to playing regular football on more than just a physical level).

I can see why we'd try it - the extra man further up the pitch might help us break down teams that park the bus (and it can effectively be 5 at the back in defence for tougher games in Europe). But it fails so often. Lennon really ought to write it out of his tactical book.

Should we have had the quality to win today? Sure. But that's football, and it's pre-season. Roll on the next game.

Dont usually give two * about our pre season results cos history has proved they dont matter as far as predicting how our seasons will go but thts a horrific scoreline. No Celtic side should leak that many goals in any game at any point. I would be embarassed if the best team in the world did tht to us never mind this German side.

I got laugh at everyone saying this is only silly preseason game.
Let think back last season and we were lucky helsinki diddnt hammer us in the first qualifier. They missed sitters after sitter and forster pulled off some amazing saves.
I can c us getting beat in quaifier games this year but hopefully we can get result at parkhead to win tie.
We had huge amount luck last year in champion league. If the luck isn't there this year, I fear we be heading for europa league.
Surely it be senseibility to keep victor til our cl qualifier is over.
20 million for getting there and if victor shines in europe it up his fee bit more.
We have 4 days at end aug to get rid him and we could have his placement lined up and agree fee etc.

Right, so you admit that they are glorified training sessions? Then you must think that scores from matches in training should be read into? Think it's you that needs a think in the corner mate. More in terms of, as SpellCheck92 said, re-evaluating where your life is going such that you feel the need to act like a hard man on the internet. :56:
