    What I don't get about some of our fans hope these guys fail. It's to our advantage that the likes of Van Dijk and Wanyama perform well. Not only would there be a % of next sale or similar clause in the contract, but clubs/players will look towards us as a good place for (A) players to join us (B) other clubs buying from us (C) clubs loaning players to us

    plus the agents of any good prospect will be advising them to go to celtic giving half a chance to enhance their skills and profile, thus benefiting celtic by having a new exciting talent on the books for 2-3 years and with the bonus of a cash windfall when we flog them on.

    How can EPL fans still often not want to sign our players because they come from the "crappy SPL"? Most of the recent big money moves to the EPL from Scotland have proved hugely succesful .

    VVD , Wanyama , Forster , Ki , Steven Davis , Steven Naismith , Joe Ledley , James Mccarthy all done very well down there . Forster was the best goalkeeper in that league and Wanyama and VVD are up there with the best in their positions.

    I'll be shocked if VVD is playing with Southampton in 2 years. No offence to them.

    I honestly think he wouldn't look out of place anywhere. I could certainly name you centre halves who have played for Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern in the past 2 years that he's better than.

    Van Dijk not convincing, claims Collymore

    STAN Collymore has expressed doubts over Virgil van Dijk’s ability, warning that Southampton could be looking for a replacement for the Dutchman in the summer.

    He said on TalkSPORT: “Van Dijk came in heralded as a great player at Celtic, but slightly different in the Premier League, has taken time to settle,” said Collymore.

    “If you are looking to move Southampton seriously onto the next level, you are probably looking at centre-halves next season.” (Various)

    Looking at his stats V Other centre-backs:

    Least Dribbled Past: 1st
    Heading: 1st
    Tackling: 7th
    Intercepting: 8th
    Blocking: 32nd
    Clearing: 14th

    Attacking wise he is the 4th best dribbling centre-back and 4th most chances created from centre-back and 19th best passing accuracy(6th best out of all who average over 3 long passes per game), also has the 5th most shots per game out all centre-backs.

    He is probably the best defensive centre-back and the 2nd best attacking centre-back in the EPL, John Stones would beat him for attacking.

    Shows what we've missed this season.
