Great bit of business! Glad to see the back of him tbh. Good footballer but dreadful defender.

It's not a step up, it's a step up in terms of overall quality. The smaller teams are England are buying bigger and bigger these days.

I didn't say I'm berating them or that it's even possible to keep Van Dijk, what I'm saying is as a team, this makes us weaker.

Roys keane is either the worst kind of uncle tom imaginable or he is related to a member of our board. His unquestioning loyalty to them gimps who mismanage the club is disturbing. Non stop propaganda and apologies for us weaking the first team, is what he is all about. He is also in favour of 10% of club profit leaving the club. Strange individual.

Virgil van Dijk's expected move to Southampton is done and dusted according to Dutch media outlet Voetbal International.<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = "[default] http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" NS = "http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" /><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><use xlink:href="#gel-icon-external-link" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"></use></svg>

They claim that the 24-year-old Celtic defender has signed a five-year deal while the two clubs have agreed a transfer fee that could rise to £13m.<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" data-reactid=".1kj5z9lhon4.1.$k55e59b5737000000e84f4fa4.4.0.0.0.0"><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" data-reactid=".1kj5z9lhon4.1.$k55e59b5737000000e84f4fa4.4.0.1.0.1.0.0"><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" data-reactid=".1kj5z9lhon4.1.$k55e59b5737000000e84f4fa4.4.0.1.1.0.0.0.0.0"><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" data-reactid=".1kj5z9lhon4.1.$k55e59b5737000000e84f4fa4.4.0.1.1.0.1.0.0.0">

I don't care about the 10%, it got us him in the first place didn't it? It's pretty standard business.

The two halves of that sentence conflict with each other.

Not really, the club isn't a step up. No chance of CL football or winning anything, the league is a step up though.

He'll be playing with better players, in a better league, earning better money.

If he steps his game up a level he could be snapped up by a CL level team which wouldn't happen playing here.

Playing alongside one of their under 21 squad was as close to the big EPL clubs as he got here.

Southampton isn't a step up. Playing in the EPL is.

If he can look good when playing alongside Efe then the EPL strike forces should not worry him. Hope he goes on to great things and happy we got decent money for him

Hope he has a miserable career and never amounts to what he thinks he is. His attitude about leaving was disrespectful and embarrassing.

Really hope he have a good sell on clause.

His next transfer away from Southampton will be in excess of 20mil.

Saying on SSN that he's already had a medial and agreed terms but the deal is still held up, hopefully we are squeezing every £1 and % of a sell on we can get.

If we could get £12million + 15% sell on it would be a great deal. 1 good season down there and he'd be worth around £30million which would get us £4.5million more if we got 15%.
