I'd love it if VVD gets into the first-team squad and stays at Celtic. Signs a contract extension. Stays for another 2 years then we sell him for £20m.

    That's my dream.

Sutton also had Fowler,Owen,Heskey and Rooney all ahead of him, Kongolo, Martins Indi and Veltman are hardly up there with the likes of those names I just mentioned.

Do you think we're over rating him?

I guarantee if he moves to the EPL then he'll be pushed further up the list straight away. Our league is * and he is playing against poor opposition. The Dutch manager can't really judge him on what he's seen in Scotland as much as he could if he was playing every week in England. It's a shame but it's true. If he * up in a game then the media would hound the manager.

Maybe cause he was doing it in Europe and had already been involved with Holland before moving here, so don't you rate VVD as he isn't selected for his national team

That Dutch squad is depressing nowadays.

Anytime I've seen Kongolo as well he has looked rotten, bambi on ice. Seems to be rated over there, though.

You said it yourself. Van Dijk has done nothing in Europe yet people want £15million for him cause he strolls the SPFL, teams will be laughing at us cause there is no chance anyone will pay that for him, a guy with no International caps and unproven at the top level yet many on here think he's world class.

bit of an obvious question, he is worth around 10 million as that currently what any team is willing to pay for him, if we put a 10% or 15% selling on fee, then if we ends up being sold for £30 million in a years time then we will make closer to £15 million anyway.

if I was southampton I wouldn't pay more than £10 million for him, why spend more than that when no other club is offering more?

Even when * like Mings are going for £9 million playing in a league that plenty of players from up here have done well in

He hasn't exactly stood out to warrant a £15million price tag is what I'm saying, Wanyama bossed the midfield in some CL game's Spartak Moscow comes to mind, Forster put in some world class performances against Barcelona that's why they got their big moves, we've yet to see a stand out performance from Virgil on the European stage.

I'm more meaning that, van dijk could be worth more than 10 million, his performance suggest he could, but no team at this time want to. If we hold out, chances are southampton will find someone else around the 10 million bracket. and someone will buy him for 6 or 7 million in january or next summer.

I wouldn't say van dijk perfomances in europe compare to either forster's or wanyama, I think from the point of view southampton paying more than for those players isn't great business.

£10 million and a 15% sell on fee and I would be happy, turning a 2.5 million into a 10 million player in 2 years is a decent bit of business

I would have said no more than £10million aswell but if I were Southampton I'd look elsewhere probably.

I do get what your saying that a player is only worth what another club is willing to pay, my point is it that bad that our fans are starting to ask the board to hold out for a bit more, especially with all the money being spunked on completly average players down south
