It's painful that we're going to lose him for less than £25m. Never mind less than half of £25m.

Obviously I don't want him yo leave but its inevitable. I want top dollar then.

£12m is better than the £8m or so we've been hearing.

We should slap a 16mil price tag on him and stick to it,i'm sure they would pay in the end

Having read their forum ( I know terrible but curiosity got the better), I don't think its a case of short changing. In their eyes the £12.5m they paid for Wanyama, the £10m for Forster (like the 8th most expensive keeper ever) and the £!2m they'll probably pay for VVD, is top dollar. Especially for defencive players.

They're saying they don't have a model which allows them to spend massively but buy circa £8-£13m and then hopefully sell for a profit. Even Tottenham a few of them were saying that because they are funding a new stadium, Levy doesn't want any big purchases for the forseeable future, therefore they are going to hunt in the £8m-£15m market now.

Dunno, maybe we have to be realistic. If it were the top 4 coming in, no doubt - I'd want loads but its mid-table clubs.

If Stones goes for £30M I'd expect to get £15M max for Virgil, though Alderweild was only 12M and he's a cracking CB. Only reason these young English players are going for so much is because EPL teams need a certain amount of 'homegrown' players, so big teams buy the young English players with most potential and forced into paying way over the odds.

Exactly but then look at Clyne - only £12M.

Big clubs pay big fees but the likes of Southampton work within a budget.

    They'd never pay £15m.

There are allsorts of different circumstances in play with both the Stones and the VVD deals.

It's not simply a case of Stones is worth 'x' and VVD is worth 'y'. Age, Nationality, league they play in, Club that wants them, contract situation etc etc etc...

On the face of it, aye, VVD should be worth more in relation to the proposed Stones fee but in reality it aint going to happen.

Yeah I'm saying that if Stones goes and then if Everton come in for him then we will probably see a bidding war.
Clyne only had a year left on his contract did he not? To be honest that's even over the odds for him but in terms of EPL money standards it's * all.

Is there any young Southampton players we could take? Make it a cash plus player trade, they have a great record from their academy.

It shows what 1 good season in the EPL can do, Stones £30M+, Carroll 30M, the list would be endless. Teams seem to look more on form rather than level of quality and talent.

He is in the first selection of the Dutch squad. Hope Danny Blind picks him for the final squad.

Wanyama wont leave Southampton this transfer window. Especially not for spurs. The daily mail hav a fairly impressive track record for fabricating pish rumours. Plus Southampton already have the money.

Probably picks Kongolo or Riedewald ahead of him though:38: the Dutch squad is always so Eredivisie minded, its unbelievable. Now Tete is selected after two matches for Ajax. Ridiculous.

He has been in and around the first team squad before hasn't he and yet still no senior cap to his name, if he was as good as some people think he is then surely he would have recieved a cap by now just saying.:50:

So by that logic were Sutton or say Le Tissier not that great then, yes they look down their nose at our league thats the main reason nothing to do with his ability

He was selected for two games if I'm not mistaken, but never came of the bench.

Listen did I say that, and by your logic how did Vennegoor of Hesselink manage to play for Holland while at Celtic?
