He is 4/1 to stay after this deadline, doesn't look good

I'm sick of losing all our best players to England,I don't know how but things need to change we can never compete in Europe as long as this goes on.

Virgil van Dijk to sign for before 3rd September 2015

    The 4/1 was a 5/1 yesterday and the 1/2 for Southampton was a 4/6

4/1 isn't a bad bet on him to stay. We beat Malmo and it must be very tempting for him.

It's a weird one, you can see he enjoys being here and I think he will stay another season if we beat Malmo, but then it becomes tough on our part selling him for a cut price. Heard talk of getting Denayer back on loan if he is sold?

Aye, he doesn't celebrate like a man who doesn't want to be here.

Maybe he's happy because he knows there is already a deal from Southampton on the table either way:smiley-laughing002:

Obviously will never happen, but reckon VVD could play up front for us in our current set up?

The more i think about it i genuinely think he can - yes a lot of his play is solid distribution from the back etc etc...but

He is a presence and is always good going forward with the ball and having a big target man in the middle for crosses like him is what we are crying out for. Also has a very good shot on him. I'm pretty sure under lennon when we were behind he would always push forward and pretty much play up front (the loss to morton springs to mind).

Anyway just a thought - the kind you get at midnight on a friday....

Sutton was more than capable of playing as a forward and in defence, so it's not unrealistic to think that VVD could do the same.

It will never happen right enough, but I think Virgil would be a threat in our forward line. He has some shot on him as we've seen, is very imposing and good in the air, and would have a height advantage over a lot of opposition defenders.

I think we should just enjoy him as our centre half for the next fortnight.

He could play anywhere on the park, to be perfectly honest.

Seen sky sports reporting that southamptons move for van dijk is dependent on champions league qualification. So make of that what you will.

If Southampton buy Kouilabaly then surely they wouldn't need Van Dijk? They'd have Lovren, Caulker, Yoshida and Kouilabaly all competing for a start. Unless they are shifting Yoshida?

This might mean that Everton are his only option now. Yes a decent option for him no doubt but I'd honestly rather stay until January if we qualify for the CL. Another good campaign will do him no harm, and he could potentially move to a better team. At the same time we might receive an inflated fee as some teams like to pay over the odds in January.

    I'm 95% sure he's gone though :54:

Edit: They have Gardos too! If they sign Kouilabaly and still want Virgil that's just being greedy

I take it you mean Fonte and not Lovren?

And Gardos has a bad injury.

See Chelsea are going to bid 57 million for stones.
Means everton should win any bidding war no bother

Celtic's assistant head scout, David Moss, has admitted that Virgil van Dijk is likely to be sold during this transfer window if a club can come up with at least £12m for the 24-year-old Dutch central defender. (The Herald)
£12m and a replacement for £3-£6mil... Great bit of business... I think Everton will definitely outbid Southampton if they're in for him due to stones

if Stones does go i wouldn't be to sure he will, i still think Everton will get VVD, i still think Aidan McGeady will have a part to play in VVD transfer to Everton.
