"A Rolls-Royce is still a Rolls Royce. No matter where it's parked"

Seen that quoted somewhere on a discussion about Van Dijik and his value.

Said it many times in this thread, he's more than capable of playing at any of the top sides in England. He also has more room for improvement in his game.

Whether it's Southampton,Everton, Arsenal(* poor defensively yesterday), Man City or whoever. They are signing a fantastic footballer.

Not a penny less than £10 million (minimum)

    Guy was and is class.

Him and Paul Elliot are the best centre halfs I've saw at parkhead.

Even though Chelsea maybe toughher to get into (still think he'd get in), he'd easily walk into every other team in EPL defence, and I mean easily.

You'll find a large chunk of our fans wouldn't mind him going to Southampton if he had to leave. A lot less arrogance than a lot of the other Premiership clubs.

Also a lot less 'Scottish football is *' comments, probably because you've had good experiences in signing guys from up here.

I like Southampton because they develop and sell quality players and try and play quality football.

I don't get kicks out the fact they have far more pull than Celtic do in this day and age but as far as the Premiership is concerned they are the lesser of all evils all things considered.

I'd more than likely adopt them if they ended up with Forster, VVD and Wanyama :56:

I've always like Southampton. You're such a non-controversial and honest club. And of course Strachan used to manage you well. I remember years ago when he had you in the FA Cup Final and finishing 6th in the league.

As for current affairs, you've got some of our best players in recent years and if you were to take VVD as well then Southampton would likely become my English team to follow.

It's always good to see the 'top 4/6' being challenged.

I just hope that if you do sign VVD, that we get serious money for it.

We'll probably only see him play for us 5 more times.

    Kilmarnock (away)
    Inverness (home)
    Malmo (home)
    Dundee United (away)
    Malmo (away)

Christ, that's depressing. :54: I like Southampton and as long as we get good money for him I wouldn't mind seeing him going there.

    Who's a numpty, ted Bates ?:icon_mrgreen:

Fair play to Southampton they do come across as a decent club

I hope he does go there or Everton, but I honestly believe if he does he will be gone in 2 seasons to a top 4 club.
The guy has the whole package for me & finds the SPL too easy, it's boring him, it's not a challenge & he "switches off" because of that boredom I think"

It's up to the scouts, Ronny & PL to make sure they replace
    him adequately.

I've never really had an English team and normally support the underdogs in the games but it's fans like yourself that make me want to take interest in your club.

Southampton have done really well and I hope you continue on your quest for great things... Up the saints :celt_2:

Only the highlights but this is a good video.

We always say he has been disappointing in Europe but he did put in some shifts. Some excellent defending in that video.

Strachan said of Van Dijik on Sunday. "He's that good, it's like an U-18 player playing at U-12's."

If a team lands him for £10 million they've got one * of a bargain, he will be world class in my opinion , hopefully we can get as much as possible and get a good sell on fee on his next move

We're pretty much all resigned to losing him, bar some crazy intervention. Hopefully we can get his name sung loud and proud at these remaining games. If we can have Paddy McCourt belted out at Tannadice for 10 minutes we can do the same for the big man!

His performances generally don't get talked about from that season because it's a campaign that was disappointing overall.

He stood out though, just like Wanyama had the previous season. Only difference was he was being left hung out to dry alot of the time but with Vic we were generally playing better as a team, hence why we obviously reached the last 16 and didn't get pumped out.
