I can kind of understand him trying to push the issue. If he's been told he's here for the qualifiers that keeps him here until 26/08/15, the transfer window ends in England on the 31st. It doesn't leave much time for a move and may mean he ends up at a poorer side as most of the bigger clubs are likely to have done their business by then. That might be what's on his mind anyway.

The deal will have been done before then, and it would be good if there was a little of dignity on all sides to keep it quiet until the qualifiers are done.

Much like Forster after the Legia game, if we can do a deal with Southampton that's similar I'd be happy.

Ideal scenario we qualify and Virgil gets a fitting send off. Without any major distractions in the build up.

Van Dijk and Denayer are both great players and had a great season for us, but sometimes I wonder how much of their success has been due to the system we play and the strong performances from Brown and Biton, shielding our defence.

It is hard to tell how much of our defensive success is due to the different factors. We will have som indication this season with a new defensive pairing.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the number of goals conceded go even lower this year, despite changes at the back.

Van Dijk is a great player, but perhaps our system has made him look just a little better than he really is.

I hope so, it would mean that he is replaceable.

Our full system was built around their pace, out defensive success was down to that, keeping the ball and them covering any counters.

Their speed was of course part of it.

I would imagine the whole team tracking back would have something to do with our defensive success as well.

It makes life as a CB a lot easier.

10 million will be the starting price, I've no doubts whatsoever about that.

He is not worth 10 million. Hopeless in European games. would prefer him to stay but cannot be bothered with his moaning about wanting a move.

So annoying we're just a feeder club, wee dicks like guidetti bad mouthing Scotland really is a boot in the baws. What exactly is it that's stopping us from moving to the premiership like Swansea or Cardiff? is there any chance we'll ever move?

    No.

Clubs like Marseille, Benfica, Porto, Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven and Ajax are now 'feeder clubs'. There's no shame in it. It's just the reality we find ourselves in now. Money's king.

DiMaria left Madrid, Ronaldo left United, Sanchez left Barca.

Are Madrid, United and Barca 'feeder clubs'? Modern day football, particularly under FFP rules, means no club dictates they keep all their best players all of the time. Celtic are no different.

And consider that Lovren was signed by Southampton for 8.5m despite being continously slated while playing at Lyon.

    Forget Lorven

We should replace him with Glenn Loovens

There is indeed an elemnt of truth to that.

He has probably played more poorer games than good games in Europe. That said, he is the best player we can get and he is the best option for the Netherlands national team.

I feel people forget that aside from Forster, Van Dijk was our best performer in a poor CL campaign 2 seasons ago. He was as far as I can remember anyway

He wasn't slated at Lyon, he was one of the best CB's in Ligue 1.

He was our best outfield player by a distance.
