There's the International thing coming up again. I brought this up the other day when it was Guidetti but it's a * hindrance to us, another reason why we need the Champions League.

Aye for Efe maybe. VVD will spend 2 years at Sunderland and then move for 25-30m. 15m is what we should be looking for and not a penny less. I agree about the 10% though :50:

I think most Celtic fans have accepted he will be leaving and appreciate his contribution but this public interview is disrespectful & out of order.

You're contracted at Celtic Virg, so until an offer comes in that Celtic find acceptable then keep it quiet and do your talking on the pitch.

And risk playing a player who:

A - clearly doesn't want to be here
    B - head in England
C - could potentially "not give a *" about performing at his best for us if we knock back bids for him.

If all these players think they're good enough to move on then why do they always come out with this * to try get a move ?

I love Virgil but he knows why he hasn't been sold and he knows why we don't want to sell him until after the qualifiers.

Ronny has already said he is staying for qualifiers and I'm happy that we will at least get him for them. Ronny wouldn't play him if his head wasn't in the right place, stop moaning.

That's been Van Dijk for the last year though and it hasn't effected his performances.

If he deliberately played * in the qualifiers and cost us a place in the CL he'd most likely spend the full see season in the stand then we'd punt him next year.

Sell him after the qualifiers. A have no problem with his comments, he obviously wanted to leave last season and it didn't happen. He's probably terrified of spending another year in this pishy league when he can be up against players of the quality of Aguero, Di Maria and dirty Sanchez every other week.

Keep him for the qualifiers then grant him his wish.. £12m would be reasonable IMO.

That and the potential CL money would give us a real cash injection, I'd like to think we'd then be able to spend around 3/4m on a replacement.

If we make it to the group stages we will attract a better calibre player, so keeping hold of VVD till our fate is decided is a must.

It seems pretty clear that Celtic have already told him he can leave after the qualifiers. This could be just a wee stunt to keep his name out there.
Wouldn't be surprised if pistol Pete wrote the script for the interview to drum up some interest and get a bidding war going. :fear:

I've already come to terms that he is leaving and will thank him for his services and wish him well. He had a great 2 years and was honest about what his intentions were from the start.

Wouldn't take anything less than 12mil for him though.

Virgil basically did us a favour staying here for the season just gone imo. We sold Forster and Legia/Maribor knocked us out of the Champions League. If PL let Virgil go after that Parkhead would have gone into meltdown.

He gave us another excellent season so we should definitely let him go because he clearly wants to. Id take no less than £12m.

Can't blame him at all. He has the ability to play at a bigger club than us. I firmly believe that. He needs to move to further his career and it's not often I say that.

Champions League with Celtic next year is furthering his career. Other than that, he should respect the fact that he's under contract, a contract that he's willingly signed his name under, and which lasts for another two years. Respecting a contract is about keeping your word, which any decent human being should be expected to.

I hate players who don't respect contracts, players who moan in the media to bring their transfer fees down. Trying to force your club to sell you for cheap like that, is in my eyes extremely illoyal towards your employer. Releasing a player before the end of his contract, because he himself wants to, is a gesture of good-will from that club. It's basically "charity", and not something that any player should expect.

And if that team is at all willing to do that, then at least the player should shut his pie-hole, and allow for the club to negotiate as high a transfer fee as possible. That is something that Celtic should expect by a player who is still an employee at Celtic. Van Dijk doesn't exactly cover himself in glory here, if you ask me. He's trying to hurt Celtic financially, and really, he should be fined for it (although I can see how that would be poor man management, but really, he should).

I've been okay with his previous comments but he needs to shut up. There's no need to take it public like that so often.

The guy should take a leaf out of Wanyama's book. That guy knew what it was about, never slagged us off or disrespected us to the papers. Good player, * of a guy. Hope the offers we get are * and he's trapped here for another year!

Every time he's interviewed, especially by Dutch media, he's asked if he's looking for a move. I don't blame him for answering truthfully. I don't think he's disrespected us either, the weakness of the Scottish league is just a fact.

I think as a parting gift he should be solid in defence for 6 more games then he can have his wish. I dont think we will get 12mil for him though im thinking more 9 or 10 but would love for yous to be right.
