- VVD is probably better than Denyaer
- Belgium are far superior to Netherlands
- Denayer gets a cap for a far superior team
- VVD is better yet doesn't get a cap for his national team

Why are people on this forum so obsessed with naming individual players when suggesting one team is better than another ?

Just because a team has better individuals doesn't mean they're a better team. Atletico Madrid are a better team than Arsenal but they don't have more superior players. Player by player Belgium are better but that doesn't mean they're a better team.

If it's not this then it's 'Combined 11's' where people just come to the conclusion whoever has more in the team is a better side.

 

Id agree that they are a good bit better than them tbh, who from the Netherlands would get a game for Belgium 3 players tops.

I'm not concerned with player by player.. Belgium have a very good team on paper but Netherlands are easily the better team imo.

 

Its not though, the Netherlands have been * dreadful since the World Cup and even at the World Cup reached the semis without playing that well. They are a shadow of former teams from the 90s and early to mid 2000s

If they hadnt sneaked a late equalised at home to Turkey in their last qualifying game theyd be 4th in their Group behind Iceland, Czech Republic and Turkey, they were outplayed and should have lost that game too.

 

Exactly. Belgium have the names but it means * all. Not even a year ago Netherlands beat Spain 5-1 with a team of Cillessen, Janmaat, Blind, Martins Indi, Vlaar, de Vrij, de Guzmán, de Jong, Sneijder van Persie and Robben

I don't know who is better I've not seen anywhere near enough of either lately. I'd imagine there isn't a great deal between them. I'm just saying it's a really lazy argument to just say 'aw well only 3 of Holland's players would get in Belgiums team so Belgium are better'.
