He will be a tough player to replace no doubt about it. By far the best center back in the league. I will say this though I think he may become another in a fairly lengthly line of players who leave Celtic thinking they are moving on to bigger and better things in their career only to find out too late that was a mistake. Who knows maybe he will decide to stay this summer for at least one more season. I certainly hope so and genuinely think it would be best for him from a career development standpoint.

160 games, 20 goals in his club career.

Crazy good goal record for a centre back.

8 of them have came in this season alone.

Setting myself up for heavy disappointment.. Because I'm starting to become a bit hopeful we can keep both of them for another season :54:

I think this season he looks really happy here wouldn't surprise me if he signed a new deal here he isn't going to get a top 4 club in England maybe some like Newcastle/Southampton so why not stay here and pick up * loads of medals and be adored by fans

They're both away, surely. Players of their type will always look great in Scotland. If they're playing in England next year, I think they may take a bit of time to adapt.

Aye, they'll need to get used to higher quality movement and players with more pace/skill/strength.

Denayer may struggle as he's smallish but he has great pace so would help him.

Van Dijk would be interesting as he is a really solid player, who seems to dominate anyone with ease just through sheer strength and athleticism also has good pace.

Denayer could play right-back in the EPL until he gets more used to it though.

I fear Everton could want them both. Distin must be near finished and Alcaraz is woeful, Jagielka's been poor and they only have Coleman for right-back. Signing Van Dijk for £10million and paying £2million for a loan of Van Dijk would give them a good pairing and Denayer as cover for Coleman.

If I was City I'd sign van Dijk and play him with Denayer next season.

    Kompany and Demichellis are gash.

Was thinking of Van Dijk in particular. So often up here he goes for the tackle and bumps a pretty poor striker off the ball and strolls away in possession.

In England he'll be up against far quicker and more technical players. Think he'd collect a few bookings and give away a few penalties early on.

As he says "I want to play champions league"

He will only leave for a champions league team imo. (unless we dont qualify)

For those who are in love.....
Realistically, we have more chance of keeping denayer for another year than Virgil staying..

Even though we have Virgil tied down and denayer's loan expires, I just think Virgil has publicly wanted out the last 2 windows and nothing now, will change that..
I don't think we'll keep denayer either, a big part of that, because his partner/pal will be off and probably talking back and forth about playing epl football to each other, but if one was to stay, I'd imagine denayer would be more likely..
