I think it's more difficult to find a good defensive midfielder like Wanyama is, as opposed to a good centre half. I don't see us getting the same price as we did for Wanyama if I'm hoenst. In fact, I don't see us getting £10m for Van Dijk.

I think you are wrong mate.Rangers got silly money for Boumsong, the Hearts guy that went to Liverpool and also Cuellar......not to mention Hutton!Even Craig Gordon went for 9m.

Take a look at who bought Boumsong mate. Pretty sure that got investigated actually. It's easier to name good centre halfs over defensive midfielders in my opinion. Wanyama also had standout games in Europe for us, when the eyes of the world would have been watching, Van Dijk hasn't really.

Aye, Souness maybe paid too much, but the others i mentioned also went for large fees, and we are talking 5/6 years ago.....or longer.
I think 10/12m is more than likely.

If i was to have a bet on a number, id say 14m.
That goal he scored the other day will have made those watching him sit up in their chairs a bit higher too.

i think we will get a similiar fee for VVD as we did for Vic, 11 or 12 mill, cant argue with that really.

Scottish football was also taken more seriously 5-6 years ago as well to be fair. Only time will tell, but I would be shocked if we got £10m for Van Dijk, hopefully I'm wrong of course.

Think we will be lucky to get double figures for the guy.

£10-12m would be about right and that's taking into consideration the league we're in and the way Scottish football is viewed elsewhere. Van Dijk is streets ahead of any other player in the league.

I think we'll get that for him no bother, from England anyway.

The likes of Forster and Wanyama went for similar fees and have done really well down there. That'll give potential buyers confidence that Celtic can still produce a good player.

One major difference between Forster, Wanyama & Van Dijk, is that the first two had memorable games against some of the best teams in Europe. The Barcelona game alone, would have had people recognising Forster and Wanyama. So far, Van Dijk hasn't really had a standout game in Europe, that's not me just having a go at Van Dijk, because we haven't defended anywhere near as good as a team in general, compared to our last 16 season. Van Dijk has looked very good at domestic level, and I rate him highly, but potential buyers will be paying far more attention to his performances in Europe, and he hasn't been as good, that's my take on it.

By cheap i'm guessing around £7-8million. They've been telt, forget about that kinda wedge, unless a certain team wants to fire Guidetti and Denayer into the mix.

Who was the last center back we had that was anywhere as near as good as van djik? id say its equally as difficult, both Wanyama an Van Djik are physically exceptional.

my only concern is that with our dip in quality this year, we mght not get the kind of fee that Wanyama commanded as we are no longer a CL club. I hope we can get in excess of £8m for Van Djik.

I'm actually quite positive about us keeping VVD for another 18 months. Can't see him going in Jan as he'll be cuptied so no big team will want him. And in the summer I just have a feeling he'll stay, he knows he didn't do himself justice in the CL last time and the whole team need to prove themselves at that level again.

I also think he'll need 1 more year in the CL, and some great performances, to command a Wanyama type fee.

It is a lot easier to name quality centre halfs over defensive midfielders in my opinion. I'm not talking about only for us, I'm meaning in general.

    Disagree with every point .

Not a chance he will be here for 18 months ...we will be lucky if he is still here at the end of the season, will be sold in the summer at the very latest . Cup tied? For what the Europa league ?! Arsenal and the like are all in the CL , and will be able top play Virgil there . He can already command a fee of over ten million comfortably . There is no way he will want to stay another year and with his contract stuation the club wont want him to run it down any further . He will be off for around ten or eleven million wthin 6 months .

If we get an offer of 12 million or above I would take it and reinvest it in new players.
