Is that a direct quote? There's an awful lot of paraphrasing that goes on these days.

I think what happens to VVD in the current transfer window will demonstrate whether Deila has any control over the movement of his playing squad. Should VVD be transferred, to me it will demonstrate what the majority of Celtic fans suspect, that the Celtic Board are deciding who is bought and sold. With one day to go the Celtic Board have maintained their unimpressive record of not having spent any money on a signing this summer. The quality of such signings being demonstrated by an uninspiring 1-1 result at Dundee today. At the same time they have sold Forster and banked about £7.5 million. Not forgetting that Celtic will have still earned millions by progressing to the Champ League playoffs.

Perhaps the sale of VVD is required to guarantee the Celtic Board receive their bonus and for the shareholders to have a substantial dividend payout. My cynical perception these days is that the words 'football' and 'expenditure' are swear words to the Celtic Board who instead love the words 'profit', 'bonus' and 'dividend'. I trust there will be another round of high fives in the boardroom tomorrow evening, once it is confirmed that the Scepovic transfer deal was cancelled as is now the perception. If so the reason given will blame Scepovic, however the perceived reality will be that the Celtic Board would not spend any money due to important 'football' concerns such as profit margin, bonus payments and shareholder dividends :31:.

I of course hope my cynicism is wrong. However during the many decades I have supported Celtic I have never had such a low opinion of the Celtic Board (even during the biscuit tin years, at least that tin occasionally opened). Especially since Celtic as a business are possibly now in their best ever financial position. So all the rubbish I now anticipate to read soon about why Celtic never paid to purchase a player this summer, yet sold Forster and VVD for the good of the 'football' club will just be utter nonsense and will mean that my opinion of the Celtic Board will be in terminal decline. I reckon the Celtic Board have about 24 hours to prove to Celtic fans that they actually run a 'football' club rather than just a plc. My expectation of being impressed by the Celtic Board during the next couple of days sits at 0% :38:. Celtic Board please prove my expectation wrong :50:.

There are two kind of loan signings and he never meant the one with the options to buy.

I dont care if he wants away, we still have to keep him. If hes still here and the transfer window closes he will play his hardest for celtic - we will be * in the europa league without him.

Or, it will show that, like a lot of other clubs in the past, we can't keep a player who actually doesn't want to be here.

Delia also said Scepovic was signing but just few hours ago VVD changes his twitter pic from him in celtic top and changes to Dutch top and removed celtic from his bio.

Safe to say he is offski

Let's hope not eh, can't afford to be losing the best player we have. We're a poor squad as it is, let's not drop to abysmal.

Good riddance, we don't need him to win the league anyway.

Even if he does stay, without a striker we ain't doing * all in Europe this year.

10m and he's yours, anything less get tae *.

It was only about 12 hours ago Deila emphatically stated that he is staying :smiley-laughing002:

Bit different to him saying he "hoped" the Scepovic deal would get finalised.

I imagine he will be in Sports Direct tomorrow deciding whether he prefers the Sunderland or Southampton top. VVD if you want to leave, just go and cheerio :bbpd:. You will have achieved no loyalty bonus points, money grabber. Should you join Sunderland or Southampton get used to your trips to Europe only being your summer holiday with your family.

That of course is me assuming leaving is your choice and not a money grab from Celtic PLC. It would be nice to know the truth if you go.

Would be surprised if we managed to hold onto him and I don't blame him if he goes

Stupid is claiming a player must be "offski" because they changed their Twitter profile pic 12 hours after the club manager emphatically states the player will be staying.

    He also said this;

I can still see him going, would be proof of the board selling players from underneath the manager.

Ronny was hardly going to claim that Virgil was going no-where if he knew he was going to be sold.

Sounds like somebody raging that we failed to reach the Champions League. If, like linked, Arsenal came in for him, offering more money, a better league and Champions League football, then of course he would be off. Since that's not happening, let's not take a defeated, victimised "get tae * ffs" attitude and actually fight to keep our best player. We desperately need quality and in Van Dijk we have it- let's not lose it.
