Its mostly media speculation that he is unhappy.

Whether he likes it or not he is still our player and its our to make not his. If he kicks up a stink or plays badly then he will only hamper his own prospects in the future.

I hope you're right, don't get me wrong, for scepovic to be announced and van dijk to stay would make this a very successful window. I really want him to stay but I just don't think he wants to and I think if Newcastle, Southampton etc make a 7mil bid in the next few days he will be gone... I sincerely hope I am wrong!

I think there is so much pressure on PL at the moment he will reluctantly keep him.

If he wants to go we should just let him go no point keeping an unhappy player that we will probably sell next summer anyway

It's a no brainier for me - if the club want bums on seats this season the big Virgil must stay.
    The fans have had enough!
I think we all know that we need to sell one big player per season to give us a transfer budget!
This is when we need to get creative with contracts and ensure that the players we are likely to sell are done so at the right time to ensure we get top dollar!
But due to the current mood of the support, and I'm sure I speak for practically everyone associated with Celtic, the sale of VVD would be a very bad move on the club / boards part!
Granted he won't be here forever but we need to look towards next season already - meaning its essential we win the league this year and I wouldn't be confident going into spl games with Ambrose at the back week in, week out!
So keep the big man around for now and, who knows, he might just fancy another pop at the CL next season ;-)

His recent displays have not been as good as last year- I think he will go in Jan, when he regenerates interest in himself.

Find the bit about Deila saying our offers are laughable more interesting. Think he might just be saying that to make it look like we have been trying our darnedest to get 'top level' players in. Find it hard to believe that most of the targets we got after laugh in our faces. Some perhaps yes, things are bad but not that bad.

The constant repeat of 'we can't compete with wages' is getting a bit boring, we are obviously looking in the wrong places then. It's like a broken record and we always seem to use the English market, the most expensive market in the world, as an example. e.g. Lawell quoting the Shane Long and McCormack deals in that interview.

    Precisely.

There's no excuse. We've picked up players like Kayal, Izzy and Johansen from smaller leagues who no doubt had other interested parties and they found our offer good enough.

If you look at it, we actually can offer very good wages to players coming from the lesser leagues in Europe. Even the likes of Belgium and Holland ofcourse where we picked up Van Dijk and Wanyama. The top players at the lesser clubs in Holland won't be on much at all and even some of the better players in Belgium (Jelle Vossen for example who I have mentioned countless times about to sign for * middlesborough!) we could still offer a big wage increase I would think?

If these supposed targets are laughing at the wage packet or whatever being offered then we either must be barking up the wrong tree or are just talking * and using it as the usual end of window 'sorry lads, we tried' .

Napoli interested as well now? What a move that would be for him personally.

Still would like to keep the big yin for another year though.

Hold him to contract for another year, unless an other comes in of 12.5 mil plus. I would ask for 15 mil it's the silly season and teams will be desperate.

He clearly doesn't want to be here so get rid ASAP. I wouldn't put him in the first team again . Try and get a partnership with Denayer and Lustig going as that will probably be our ch pairing unless we sign another one.
