To be honest I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for him at times playing alongside comparably extremely average players.

 

It's actually quite comical seeing folk spit the dummy out at the suggestion that a Dutchman who has been here for a year might not have particularly strong emotional ties to the club.

He could go elsewhere for a bigger wage, play in a much better league and vastly increase his chances of getting in the Dutch squad. It's unfortunate as he's an excellent player and I do believe that if we were playing in the CL this year he would stay, but I think he'll be off before the window closes.

 

Honestly dont understand why Man United arent taking a chance on him. Hes better than the * they currently have.

 

I had this argument with one of my United supporting mates. I said he'd improve the team and is probably better than Smalling or Evans. Apparently though since he's never played in the EPL that's simply impossible you see!

 

I reckon he would flourish at a team like arsenal.

Sort of * me off this, if he's not happy get him punted but remind him he did sign for Celtic to stay more than 1 season. I do to care how good they are sometimes they are far to big for there own wee boots.

Was thinking the same. Thought he would flourish there. Van Gaal clearly doesn't rate him though. He'd rather have the dross that got hammered 4-0 by MK Dons. Shocking.

As for Van Dijk... You go when someone meets our valuation. I'd be disappointed if we sold for anything less than what we got for Forster.

 

Want another season.. It's short sighted for him to go to Southampton or Sunderland he could easily play for a top 6 club!

To be fair, he went up top for the last 10mins, and was our biggest attacking threat all game. That's not an exaggeration either.

Said that about wanyama. Southampton have a good record of developing young talent and if one of our players move there we could get a decent sell on fee on top of the millions already purchased for.

Agree about Sunderland though. Proper yoyo club down there

 

Regardless of what money is on offer and how the player feels celtic are making a big mistake letting him leave after only one season.

This would send out a message to all our future signings that if after a year you stamp your feet and make some noises in the papers then we will let you go.

Its bad enough the amount of players buggering off after 3 years as soon as they can but after one year it would be down right crazy

 

Totally agree but what's the alternative?! An unhappy player not giving his all and therefor driving his price down even lower!! Majority of these guys just see us a stepping stone and as a result have us over a barrel.

 

im sure we could keep him untull the janaury window at least?i think hes overated,but hes our best defender and i wouldnt be too confident going into the europa group without him.

 

* him. He's an awesome talent but he's part of a 'team'. He should be concentrating on making it better, not on his next meal ticket. Hate this attitude.

 

I don't want Virgil to leave. I think the board should offer him a better deal /contract to try keep him for another season or two.
