hes massively overated.if we get 8 million for him that would be massive bit of business considering that fazio guy who won the europa league with sevilla just went to tottentham for same price.

 

Just my opinion but I believe he's capable of making it to the very very top of the game.

 

There are a lot of other explanations as to why we were soundly beaten in Europe last season, and also by Legia this year. Serious question, who would you rather have, Kelvin Wilson, or Van Dijk?

 

I have no doubts about his abilty, he is gonna be a top, top defender.

But I agree with ye, he has still to prove it at the top.

 

Over rated by about 4 million pounds.
We would be lucky to clear 6 million for him.

I can agree with that. But wanyama was like an extra defender. Head and shoulders above the team and a better player than van dijk.
This team van dijk has struggled due to being left more exposed at the back. Still though, believes his own hype too much and has a lot to prove before he gets his big move

 

That's what I mean though, Wanyama had class written all over him almost from the moment he arrived. He performed consistently, and he did look head & shoulders above the rest.

I'm not sure if a lot of people are buying into Van Dijk more because of the hype than anything else. He's Dutch, tall, athletic looking, and is very obviously confident in his own abilities.

None of that is worth * though when he's a part of a defence that was taken to school in Europe last season, and that has looked iffy at best this season.

 

I think Van Dijk is a quality player. Positionally he can be a bit naive sometimes but that's a sign of his age. To be honest, i'd love to see him pushed forward into the Wanyama role. He seems very confident on the ball and has pace to get back and forwards, plus when he does get forward his long shots and presence in the box always seem to threaten.

He's an excellent defender who is only going to get better, but i'd be very interested to see him further forward.

Kind of the opposite of big Vic, signed him as a midfielder but with visions of him playing CB.

 

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has hinted that he is close to signing Ricky Alvarez from Inter Milan and Virgil van Dijk from Celtic. Argentina international midfielder Alvarez has been linked with a season-long loan move to the Black Cats, while 23-year-old Dutch defender Van Dijk will reportedly join them in a £6million deal.

£6 Million? that had better be a f**king joke. They were about to pay £14M for FABIO BORINI for pity's sake! If(and it's a big if) van Dijk goes for that money it will be a disgrace.
