Unlike Wanyama I get the impression he can't wait to * leave. As long as we get a good deal with a hefty sell on clause, I'd be willing to see him go. I must admit though I'd be disspointed with £8m, we should look for at least £10m if not 12.

I'd ignore any offers under 10m. He's under contract for a good long while. Should probably wait until January to sell him, anyway.

£10m would be a fair price.

    That's a shout.

Would still have 2 and a half years left so we could still demand a top fee. Very different to the Forster contract situation.

If Celtic show intent and buy or loan quality thoughout VVD has no reason to bolt so quick. Basically easy money for him and play the best he can get the best possible offer next year for us and him. Or stay another 5 year

Gordon joins on a free transfer, Forster leaves for profit.

Samaras leaves, Tonev joins on a free loan.

VVD next to be sold for profit....... so the Celtic Board can further please the shareholders and boost their ever increasing bank balance. I wonder who VVD's free transfer replacement will be? I can only imagine any player costing at least £1 will be too expensive :31:

Roll on the next Champ League round when Celtic are absolutely humped again because the Celtic Board continue to sell our best players, not properly replace them, bank the money and high five the shareholders.

Such a joy being a fan of the rebranded football club, now known as Celtic Corporate Club :38:

Yes I reckon so. We can accommodate his free loan within our £10 budget.

I actually wonder whether Gordon, Tonev and Denayer could prove to be fantastic deals. I am prepared to be impressed. Only time will tell. For now Celtic remain on our bank manager's Christmas Card list :smiley-laughing002:

you are 100% spot on m8.the board might be able to pull the wool over some fans eyes with a couple of loan signings and a free transfer.but i think our board are seriously taking the * out of us fans.

:50: will be the same story next year when these loans are up, 'Tonev was a great player and scored 400 goals in a season, but we've decided its not in either parties best interests to take up the option to buy.' Then we sign more loans the following season.

Who will replace him from the current squad if sold? It's magic when we rake coin in from these talents but really, does anyone see like for like being brought in?

I hope to * he stays....we need established defenders like never before.

If a club actually offer £10 million for him I would take it, I don't think he is THAT great, very good spl defender and obviously proved himself in Holland but he wasn't all that great in the champions league and he has yet to be called up for the Dutch squad.

I dread to think of what would happen to us in Europe without Van Dijk.

Welcome . i hope your name is a father ted reference :icon_mrgreen:

Delia may well be quoted as saying that but in reality that is the generic response any manager gives when talking about their players . Van Dijk has made no secret of the fact he wants to play in the EPL one day and you can bet your bottom dollar the moment a swnasea or southampton come in with a bid above 8m he will be off.
