He is a really good player, but still a very overrated one imo. He is just nearly as bad as Stokes in europe, and that is one warning sign.

Surely the quality of player we can get improves by bringing in 2 big lumps of cash.

One for big Fraser, one for Van Dijk.

Sometimes you've just gotta roll the dice, Van Dijk isn't the only defender in the world and he'll be salivating about a move to the Premiership because the money is incredible.

Wanna make that clear, the money is absolutely phenomenal. We're not just talking a wee hike in salary. You're talking about 250k an month. Plus bonuses, plus sponsorship, plus the national team. What part of that doesn't fit in with the idea that keeping VVD will lead to anything other than super cheap signings coming in.

Me, i've had enough. If the reality is he wants to go, the cash is there and we have a list of good players to go after, go and do it. 6-1 going on 8-1 says to me the problems are a lot deeper than just in central defense.

 

Said before that I would be happy to sell VVD and FF if the £20m is reinvested.

But we all know that isn't going to happen.

I'm all for selling players at the right time for the right price. But that's not VVD this season. We have no other CB's of even remotely good quality. It would be madness to sell Van Dijk.

And what do you mean you would have liked to have kept him to see if we could develop him into a midfielder? Why would we do that? He a CB. And a good one.
