    I love big Virgil but we'd be lucky to get 8mil for him. Hopefully he stays anyway.

    Had he Dared To Efe he would've made the squad.

    It's absolutely bewildering that some clown, passing himself off as a Celtic fan, has been singing the praises of Stevie May for his performances in the Scottish Premiership and is now slating Virgil Van Dijk, the most gifted player in the country by some distance, for his performances in the world's most elite football competition because his league form doesn't count. I mean what the * is this?

    I'm one of Ambrose's biggest fans and even I can see that's not the same. Ambrose is prone to that kind of error (he is also very underrated for the great things he does, but that's another story for another day). Only recently he gave away a goal against Motherwell that was exactly the same error as for the first goal against Juve.
    Van Dijk, on the other hand, came in and played his first competitive game in a very hostile environment in another continent under massive pressure for such a young lad and with an unfamiliar partner (also playing his first competitive game) and had a nightmare; but he's been fantastic ever since then.

    It's not really a fair comparison.

    In the same game Virgil was at fault for the second goal. Plus he also gave away a silly penalty there against Inverness also.

    I think he is still learning and still makes rash decisions sometimes. I'd be amazed if he didn't at his age; he is emphatically not or prone to the kind of performance he (and most of the team) gave against Shakhtar Karagandy, even against far superior opposition. That is why it's unfair to keep bringing that game up. Ambrose, on the other hand, is definitely prone to precisely the kind of error he made twice against Juve.

    I think I'm in love with Efe, what a great guy, great attitude and some aspects of his game are world class; he does make these errors, though.

    Like everyone else then.

    I can only think of two major mistakes Efe has made all season, his pass which caused Virgil to get sent off and the first goal Motherwell scored recently.

    He's worth more than that.

    * sake.

    He'd be worth TWICE that if he was already in England.

    He had a bit of a * up on Saturday just gone, but he got away with it. The guy just tries to do to much or keep hold of the ball for too long sometimes, it's not really a trait I like in a centre back.

    But we don't play in England so that's the way it is.
    If you'd rather Caldwell or McManus fair enough.

    No, not like everyone else. It's a pattern and it does cost us goals. He's made more than two all season. Remember Dundee Utd recently? He made more than two bad errors in just that one match, yet at times he was absolutely magnificent that game (even against Motherwell, people didn't seem to notice that although he lost us a goal, his pace and tenacity almost certainly saved us one when Kayal lost the ball). I'm honestly with you on Efe, mate: I love the guy and certainly wouldn't swap him for a Caldwell or McManus; I'm only trying to point out why it is legitimate for people who don't see him this way to keep bringing up Juve, whereas it's unfair to do the same to Van Dijk with the Shakhtar Karagandy game.

    Do you understand this point? The errors Efe made against Juve were part of a pattern of similar errors that he is prone to make. Van Dijk's performance in his first competitive game was not part of any subsequent pattern.
