15 million not a penny less the guy is 22 if we sell him for 8 million we have lost the plot

 

Exactly, no one cares outside our league about a broken clean sheet record, that will count for nothing. It's what we do in Europe and sadly this season won't reflect well on the defense.

People asking for £15M at least are living in cloud coocoo land and yes I can tell you that you will be very upset because we won't get anywhere near that. Virgil is still prone to a few errors from time to time and his biggest problem is giving away silly needless fouls.

Don't get me wrong, I like Virgil and Ambrose together and think they're good enough to step up in Europe for our level which is why I want them to stay next season but Virgil is vastly over-rated on here. Imo he is nowhere near the quality Wanyama was as a player. We will get nowhere near £15M and £8M tbh is the most I see us getting being realistic.

 

I'd guess in the excess of 10mil easily.

Hope we keep him though,him alone can make us qualify for the champions league groups again.

 

I agree with this. The guy could be going to the World Cup and we've seen what happens to players values after that.

:smiley-laughing002: Wasn't so long ago Virgil and Mouyokolo almost denied us CL Group Stage football this season against Karagandy and we needed Ambrose and Lustig at CB in the return leg to keep a clean sheet and dig us out of it.

At the present moment if we were to sell then yeah 8 million is realistic. I think next season in Europe his true quality will show and then we can start talking big money then.

 

What's your problem with Van Dijk? He's been massive for us in the league. The whole CL campaign was dissapointing and so were the whole * team in that competition.

 

I agree with that.

I have no problem with Virgil and like him in our team but remember the league is a relative walk in the park.

The goal-keeper and defense were let down in Europe this season, not by themselves but by those in front of them. Commons, Mulgrew, Brown, Forrest and Stokes all playing in front of them who can not step up enough and are out their depth at that level are the ones who expose the defense and Keeper to a constant onslaught of attack from the opposition so it's inevitable goals will be conceded.

All I'm saying is to expect at least £15M this Summer is very unrealistic for our European performance which is what our players get judged on.

 

If they bid 8M for him if that were his price at the moment we should keep him.

I only say it as I see it, I'm not stating anything factually incorrect. Also if we hadn't made CL football because of they're shocking defensive display that night pretty sure Virgil wouldn't be getting talked about in the same way. People always bring up Ambrose and the Juventus game so it's only fair to bring up the Karagandy game at times in regards to Virgil.
