How much money do the club need to function? we made around 10 million profit over the past year after all the transfers went through (buying and selling) and thats not to mention the tv revenue for the champions league.

If big VVD is sold for anything less than 15 million its an outrage and I would seriously be * off. He is tied down for 3 more years and its clear as day he is real quality so if there is any realism to these stories maybe celtic should make it worth his while to stay put if he would like to ofcourse or these stories will never go away.

We should be building a CL team not ripping it up !!! :47:

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
Has so long left on his deal, and will only get better and better. Would have to be a a sum a decent whack in advance of what we received for wanyama, with add-ons linked to International appearances etc before I personally even considered getting rid.

One of the best players I have seen at CP for 10+ years, potentially. A class act.

If this is true then it's a bit different from Wanyama and hoopers transfers.

I wouldn't grudge VVD a move to either Arsenal or Man City. This is team's we should be selling to and the team's that players aspire to instead of Norwich and Southampton.

Saying that I don't want to sell our best players to anyone.

They don't play in the 'Best League in the World' .

Every club in that league are giants compared to us mere mortals.

They were a glorified Gulf club with no infrastructure and never got near the title. There was no investment other than a hodge-podge of over-the-hill and unmotivated veterans. I don't think the comparison holds.

Do you think being able to spend a lot of money makes you a big club?

Is a Garden Shed with £10million in it a mansion?

No one thing does, that's all Anzhi ever had. A good team that plays together, plus money, plus infrastructure, plus a title (or titles) relatively recently, all that and more that I'm forgetting make you a "big club." An historic club? No. But I don't think there's any comparison between Anzhi and Manchester City.

No, but a garden shed that's been demolished and replaced with a £10million mansion is a mansion. Maybe a tacky McMansion, yes, but still a mansion. Anshi is the garden shed with the money. Not City though I'm afraid.

If we keep him for another 2 seasons then I'll be happy. He's a class act and with a contract extension further down the line to bring in a higher transfer fee then we can see him going on for more than £10m.

I'd be astonished if we can manage to keep a hold of him until past next season.

Celtic's Dutch star is backed to make Holland’s World Cup squad.

Virgil Van Dijk backed for Brazil

Celtic defender Virgil Van Dijk should be included in The Netherlands’ squad for the World Cup, according to his former boss.

Groningen GM Hans Nijland said: “Van Dijk has continued to improve now that he has joined Celtic, and he must now get picked to play for Holland.

“I am appealing to Louis van Gaal to select Virgil for the national team. He would have to be crazy not to.”

Celtic star Virgil van Dijk admits it is 'fantastic' to be linked with a move to England, but insists he is happy in Glasgow.

Van Dijk only joined Celtic from FC Groningen last summer, but he has been earning rave reviews north of the border since his move.

Reports in England and Holland have claimed that Arsenal and Manchester City have been keeping close tabs on him.

And 22-year-old van Dijk admits he is happy to see the links, as he believes it is a sign that things are going well.

Van Dijk told Dutch football magazine Voetbal International: "It's fantastic that such top teams are being linked to you.

"I haven't spoken with anyone yet, but it's always a good sign, but I am enjoying it here at Celtic. The first six months were fantastic."

The defender has refused to completely rule out a winter move though, and added: "It's a cliche, but in football everything is possible.

"What I know is that I am in a good place here at Celtic and that feels excellent."

Virgil van Dijk being watched by Arsenal and Man City

    From Voetbal International.

    Translation:

Virgil van Dijk feels flattered by the interest from the English Premier League . " It's great if you placed with absolute top clubs linked ," said the Celtic defender on the concrete interest of Arsenal and Manchester City at Voetbal International .

Last summer he moved from FC Groningen for the Scottish champions . While no club was concrete , connect the 22 -year-old defender a winter transfer not . "It's a cliché , but in football everything is possible , of course . But I know very well what I have here at Celtic and that suits me just fine. "

For two months, Van Dijk closely followed by Manchester City . Meanwhile, Arsenal has him on a list of potential reinforcements . Both clubs inquired through intermediaries to transfer all that needs to be coughed up for the defense of Breda . Scottish superpower is not waiting for a transfer , but will amount to nine or ten million certainly with interested clubs to sit down.

This guy will be so hard to hold on to, especially if he gets to the World Cup - which I think we all believe he should. They can take their £10 mill and shove it where the sun don't shine.

If he gets into the dutch first team then we could potentially have a 20 mill player on our hands.
