    Yep, the a-ending is feminine in most languages. Does Blanka mean anything in Slovene? "Blanka" is Norwegian slang for "s/he blanked me".

    Well the name stems from Romanic languages so the meaning is pretty much what Johan Derksen told you. :icon_mrgreen:

    And it's really not that common in Slovenia, I only know one myself. I think it's more common in Croatia (you might have heard of one of the best high jumpers in the world Blanka Vlašić) and especially in more eastern Slavic countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland and so on. But that's just my speculation.
