:50:Too early to judge especially considering the performance of those around him.

He wasn't so bad, he was playing with a completely useless 'defender' so I've got to cut him some slack

Gave a few stupid free kicks away, poor performance but then the same goes for most of the team tonight.

I didn't like him tonight but of course it would be ridiculous to judge him off the back of one performance.

First proper start, was poor at times but composed and good in the air in others..

Think he'll come good today overall just wasn't one of those good days

You cant say that about " a host of top clubs chasing our manager" ...new season same inept * tactics and blind faith in players.

Played the ball well, which is encouraging. Didn't look used to playing with the team, and it didn't look like any of our defence were expecting them to be good from throw-ins. Which is strange because we were told beforehand it's pretty much their main threat.

Didn't think he looked too bad- but the comments are so extreme either way on here I'm not sure what to believe anymore.

Virgil played well I thought considering he is short of games and was flung in at the deep end. That was because Lenny can no longer trust Ambrose who is rank rotten. I expect Virgil and Steven to eventually make a great partnership at the back.

I thought they looked clueless as a pairing, I don't blame them as they haven't played together much. Very easy to say in hindsight but always prefer Mulgrew as a centre back if he plays.

I agree mate. Even though that qualification game was a complete shambles, I still think he looked like he will be of great use. He's supose to be amazing in the air (which would replace what wanyama was great at) and then he also is suppose to have a great long shot on him n can take freekicks (which would be great cuz lennon wouldn't have to depend on throwing charlie mulgrew on just for his set pieces)

I'm really looking forward to seeing this guy settle into the squad. Lennon will defo keep him in defence secong leg I think. (I hope so anyway)

Agree on this.I thought they both looked good until the 1st goal. Was too much to ask of them to gel a partnership in their 1st game together. They'll both turn out great signings i reckon.Virgil is going to get us some goals that's for sure.

Was a stupid move to play them both together for the first time in such an important game. I think this guy has some potential, and seems to carry a massive threat from set pieces.
