If Vic goes for a club record transfer fee, what else do you think will happen this transfer window? Remembering when Aiden went for (what will likely be) less than Wanyama we were able to completely rebuild the team - and that was off the back of no Champion's League money. Now, however, we'll take in an 8-figure transfer fee, have CL cash and still have a solid team nucleus.
So, the question is, what will they do? Do you think we've already tied up much of the spending money in Balde and Van Dijk? Will we be able to offer Hooper a deal he'll take? Will there be any more signings coming in? What're your thoughts?

If Wanyama goes, he will be replaced.

I think Hooper might still go - he will also be replaced.

A selling club tends not to mean literally that. So a % of the fee always tends to go back to debt relief/finance/grass roots/w/e. I think that everyone has accepted that this is a selling club now, a trading club no more.

That being the case, what comes in doesn't have an absolute influence on what goes out.

In other words, the club won't spend ten million because they've received ten million. That being said, a % of what we swoop will receive a % of what we spend, the detail depending upon finance and financial advice.

And we know, now, that's how it should be. Even, what, three years ago? the call on this forum would have been TEN MILLION IN STRIKERS IS MAGIC SIGNNN LOADS OF STRICKEERS but now, we know, big Scottish clubs bleed out with that type of attitude.

My guess? Two more players for fees, maybe one or two more leaving. The new world isn't as much fun as the old world, but it kind of makes more sense.

If Vic goes for the reported fee of 10-12 Million I think we will see about 3-4 Million reinvested in first team and the rest to infrastructure/debt.

We usually sign whatever we can afford to break even every season.

It'll be interesting to see what we do.

That's exactly the way it should be in my opinion.

I still hope at least one of them will stay.

If both go then so be it, we've lost some important players in the past and we always bounce back.

If Vic goes I wouldn't mind us bringing in a playmaker and letting Kayal, Brown and Ledley fight it out for two CM spots.

I'd definitely give Kayal more game time.

But I'd still like to see us sign a hard * of a DM to replace Wanyama.

If Wanyama goes we don't have a defensive midfielder. Scott Brown is the closest who can do the jobs

We have still to qualify for the CL mind. We don't need to spend big anyway the money will be spent on running costs etc.

Wanyama doesn't need replaced we have Brown Kayal and Ledley in the midfield. Bringing in another midfielder would stifle the progress of our younger players such as mcgeouch.

Just hope John Park already has a "Wanyama" in his notebook. In saying that I thought we played out best football todays the end of the season with Ledley and Brown centre midfield and we have Kayal so we dont really need to replace him but it would help for the Champ league.

None of which are defensive midfielders.

Which is absolutely vital for Europe.

I agree. Ambrose and Mulgrew can both fill in there anyway.

Kayal is a DM, in my eyes anyway mate.

I'd hate to see Scott Brown having to be rigid again at breaking down play - he's better at dictating it now to be honest.

I can easily see Kayal slotting in infront of the defence, breaking down attack and pushing play on.

    Yes please.

Kayal is wasted at defensive mid. He isn't got at that, for me he's a type like Vidal. A dynamo in the middle of the park. His perifrmance against Juve away was a thing of beauty from thay position.

Look at him as the anchor man in the Europa League the previous season? Wastes him. He hasn't got the positional discipline for it. It done my nut in, Broony can do it but I would hate to see it as well. As well as Ledley.

We have 3 players there who could do it but it's not there position and they'll be caught out at a higher level.

I actually think the best shout for it in our current squad is Chico Mulgrew.

I agree about Kayal being a DM, although he is a bit more all action than Wanyama.

I'm just thinking about the way we might play next year, either 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1 in Europe.

Doesn't really give much scope for Ledley, Broony or Kayal to get forward.

Hopefully we can find a balance.

I'm actually struggling to remember our performances in the Europa League :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002::52:

Nah, I'd definitely say he is the best out of the lot at doing it mate - and it's a no for me about Chico.

What did you guys think of Kayals Europa League performances as the defensive mid? He's a more conservative centre mid but not an outright anchor man like Big Vic can be.

Similar to Scott Brown when Strachan decided he was a defensive midfielder, he's not.

I would be happy to give Ambrose a chance in Central Midfield, he is a bit too relaxed to be a centre back but he clearly has talent. He actually played well as a right back for Nigeria at the Confederations Cup although we don't need a right back. I hope we bring in a really good striker and a playmaking midfielder.
