Was this guy in the current under 21's tournament?I had a look but all I could see was that he made his debut in the home defeat to Scotland then a defeat to Italy

Think about if we were to offload tony watt when he is 21, or even James Forrest, would we dare accept £3million? This club have been doing the same as us, nurture youngsters, develop them, then sell them off for a return. Guy got voted player of the year for them, and they want a few million. Not that much considering. And I reckon 2-3 years with us, and he could be worth double that.

Loovens did alright in the end. I can remember a time when he was our top form defender.

Yep. That's too much to ask from a young lad.

(I actually rated Loovens more than others)

I pray to * we never see another Glenn Loovens. I will never forget when he got pushed off the ball by Kenny Miller at Ibrox.

I can't really comment about Van Dijk, haven't seen anything of him in all honesty, good reports on him though.

Surely if we were willing to pay £2 million, we can 'risk' the extra £1.5 million. We are financially strong and some times you have to take risks, although £1.5 million extra isn't really a risk to me.

£3.5million for an inexperienced defender is quite a hefty fee for us in my opinion.

I know I feel the same but, I just think if we were willing to risk and even lose £2 million, then surely we could add £1.5 million in. We are as financially strong as we were in the late 90's/ early 2000's.

I know it looks like im throwing numbers about * nilly, saying just give them an extra £1.5 million it doesn't matter BUT I think we can afford a risk this time round.

If hes as good as some of the Dutch boys on here say then pay the £3.5m.. I know the Dutch defence isnt the greatest, but if this boy gets a couple of caps I guarantee his price will rocket up.

Exactly what I believe mate and £3.5 million is a bargain, considering that if his price rises to say £6 million in a year or two, then many an EPL team will not bat an eyelid to pay that sort of money.

Seems that way now. Hope Celtic haven't blundered (if we don't get Van Dijk).
