Messi alone deserves a World cup winners medal.

    Enough about the BBC.

Really good game I thought, two teams wanting to play attack-minded football. Brazil made Spain look average for the majority of it; although Spain suffered from the lack of recovery between the semi-final(IMO).

Ramos (terrible defending at times, in particular the 2nd goal) and Arbeloa had a howler (1st goal he was terrible and lucky to make it to half-time for me), as did Mata and Pedro. Torres was a waste of space tonight, contributed nothing going forward and did nothing to help out his team-mates. Whatever is up with the him, he needs to sort himself out as he`s been poor for some time.

Lawrenson and Townsend in fairness to them I suppose never made it a secret they would of picked England first if Ireland never called them up, they're a pair a dopes anyway ha

Had to laugh when the commenatators were talking up Navas any time he done something even half decent, I wonder if that's because he is on his way to "the best league in the World". Noticed they never mentioned a word when he completely shanked a shot 20 yards wide.

Mark Lawrenson's attempt at comedy about "looks like he has been in the fredge". Dear oh dear, I was getting a red coupon for him.

Some have an irrational loathing of Neymar, but when it comes to aspects of his game which are obvious maybe Marcotti will convince them otherwise:

Tell what to Matt Le Tissier? Penalty takers are human? I'm sure he's acutely aware of that, he missed one as well.

Lawrenson is clueless but Navas looked and is a world class winger.

This tournament has changed my entire opinion of him but mentioning him in the same breath as 2 players that have blown world football away over a number of years is ridiculous, thus far.

You can pick an attribute from a number of players and say they do it better than Messi or Ronaldo but the complete package with both those players amounts to 2 of the greatest that have ever lived.

I completely agree. I like Navas to be fair, have done for a good few year. But couldn't help think if he wasn't going to the EPL, he wouldn't have been spoken about half as much.

Great to see the penalty-dependents getting a right good hiding in the final – a final they had no right to be in.

A lot of peoples opinions will be changed about Neymar.

The biggest thing people need to remember is he is 21 and is going to be * frightening with Messi next year.

I'm sure they'll console themselves by stroking their World and European champion medals.

He does seem to thrive on the ball, just like Messii, in which case they’ll probably cancel each other out.

    How?

Most Barcelona players thrive on the ball and they don't seem to have cancelled each other out. Neymar will play wide left (basically to replace Villa/Sanchez) as an inside forward while Messi will continue in his favoured false number 9 role which he has already been doing.

If anything we could see them bringing the best out of each other, although they're both excellent dribblers and quite often seen as the main man, they're still quite different in what they're actual best roles are.

Thing I noticed this tournament was Neymar's build up skills were far to fast for the likes lf Fred to keep up with, being surrounded with players like Iniesta and Messi, he will thrive. I just hope he quits the diving stuff because it's very quickly getting me to hate him and I don't like hating very talented players.

He'll flourish with Messi and Iniesta, of that I have little doubt.

I can actually see those 3 being devastatingly effective.

    Great final, brilliant from Brazil.

Neymar is absolute class and I don't think anyone could disagree. Who know what he will be like in 3/4/5 years time.
