Hull can * right off and stick that £4 million up their collective arses, it's * insulting when every man and his dug know they're getting £100 million off of Sky just for being promoted.

Sign a new contract Gary, get yourself a better wage here, and hold out for an English club who's actually good enough for you. European football, or a relegation dog fight? It's a no brainer.

Neil Lennon is hardly going to come out and say that Hooper's heart isn't in playing for us anymore is he?

    1. It would make Lennon himself look a bit of an * for picking Hooper so often this season
    2. It would weaken Celtic's position in any negotiations to sell Hooper this summer
    3. If Hooper ended up still being here next season it would put strain on the relationship between Hooper and the fans

I think a lot of Celtic fans who watched Gary Hooper's performances last season would be of the view that there were many domestic matches where he didn't look like he was trying a leg. Oddly enough he usually managed to raise his performance level for matches in the Champions League and big games like the cup final. Coincidence?

Hooper also hasn't made any great secret of the fact that the EPL is where he wants to play. His post Cup Final interview was very non committal and to me was a sure sign that he's ready to move on.

His goals will be worth keeping him. If he does well gets us to the champions league again. He'll get better offers than * hull!!

Rickie Lambert and Chris Sutton have both scored goals in the top flight for unfashionable clubs at a time when England needed strikers, and neither got the call, and if Hooper goes to Hull I suspect the same will happen to him.

The ship sailed for Sutton when he refused to play for the England "B" team. He was never getting a call up after that.

I can't see him going to Hull what's the point he will be relegated the following season I think Hull are testing the waters and it's been made public so hopefully the bigger sharks will come in for him and pay more.

I think hooper is worth more to celtic playing one last season than punting him for 4.5 million this window. He's our main goal scorer, stokes can bang them in also but if he gets crocked were * resulting in a january panic buy.

He is never going to get into the england side unless he is playing for a top 6 side in the EPL.

Don't see a top 6 side going for him this summer, so that will leave Hull ect after him, now this bid of 4 million is just a test IMO see whats going to happen or see what celtic will say to hull for the bid.

Still can't get over how the board let him run his contract down with a year left, he should have been signed up to a new deal by now IMO. not just him but Stokes as well and I think Ledley is out of contract next season as well.

I think it will get knocked back but if they came in with a 6 million bid was made the board will let him go if he is not going to sign a new deal, if this happens they have let the ball drop big time IMO with Hooper.

No club down there will even double this offer, so if it's going to be increased by any English club I'd say the maximum would be about £6m.

£4.5 million is real money and if we hold off too long we might miss out on a good replacement.

Questions really must be asked of a football team that pay Paul McShane to play for them.

So.......... kind of like every other human being on Planet Earth then?
Celtic fans cannot begin to moan at Hooper for not bothering about the SPL and only caring about Europe, considering Celtic fans don't bother about the SPL and only care about Europe!!!

I agree that Hooper wants to move, I think it's obvious and I don't hold it against him. He's English, so why would he not want to play in the English Premier League? Plus he's basically the only good English striker these days, unless Sturridge can remain fit and consistent.

I just hope Hooper achieves what he has the potential to, wherever he goes. There is no doubt in my mind he can be a 25 million pound striker.

I would accept 5 mill, but only with add-ons taking it over 10 mill eventually (plus at least a 30% sell on fee)

For those who are in love.....
Word for word spot on,and exactly how I felt about his last 4 months or so excluding the final and winning the league he just wasn't interested...
People can give there opinion on whether he was bothered or not towards the end but he wasn't thats a fact and anyone who thought differently is blinded in my eyes...

I know why he was doing it but for me when Neil Lennon kept kicking his * an singling him out for praise when he was playing * was embarrassing for me and he shouldn't have done it...

Anyway as I said on the other thread lawwell or Lennon interview for sky sports or whoever and let these diddy clubs know 8 mill or we'll run down his contract call there bluffs,I'm certain we won't receive 4-5 mill bids again after that!
People need to realise this is to the epl that although we're on a league well below in terms of finances that we will not be ripped off by these non entity clubs,a year or not left hooper would still get close to double what's been offered if he was in any other league but ours!
