    I thought Mulgrew and stokes took that game by the scruf of the neck the second half. So to just credit Forrest for that day is ludacris in my opinion

    But back to topic of balde for me he needs to be given 60-90 minutes at the weekend and the full 90 vs cliftonville as like others he should be judged when up to speed and at full fitness, I feel however it may go like Bangura and never get a run of games to show if he is or isn't good enough

    Stokes is going to be the more reliable source for goals. With Gary on his way out, the forward line can play with a bit more freedom. Stokes, Commons, Forrest and Watt can all play either side of the pitch. With Sammy, that's plenty of options.

    Balde just needs time to build up an understanding with the other guys in the team, when that happens we're ok, but the forward line against Cliftonville looks like they play with a lot more freedom than they did when Hooper was in the team.

    This is a massive season for Stokes. He's always scored goals for us but has never had the pressure of being the main striker. He needs to fill Hooper's position and become the same kind of player who will poach us goals from inside the box every game. I hope he can live up to the expectations placed on him this season

    I expect we will see another striker in the door before the end of the transfer window with Hoops heading out. May well see further competition for Amido.

    You would have Stokes, Balde, Watt and Other Signing which would be your 4 main strikers then you have the likes of Sammy who can play upfront and Atajic.

    He could well be 4th in the pecking order if he doesn't hit the ground running. Although Lenny may feel the need to play him because of the transfer fee which one would hope he would take advantage of.

    Good lord:smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

    For Stokes to step up to that free kick, at that exact moment when Lennon's * was unquestionably out the window for me, and belt it home was something sensational, same with his 2nd goal. He deserves a new deal.

    As good as Stokes may have been that day against Kilmarnock, is that what he is really going to live off of continuously? It'll be 2 years in October since Stokes scored that double.

    It seems to be every time a person says he could be doing better than he has been, people always want to bring up Kilmarnock away.

    Since that match, he's managed 20 goals in 57 matches, he's been very hot and cold.

    It's time for Stokes to create new memories/chapters in his Celtic career.

    The English commentators said something like Balde looks good one minute then looks like he has nothing to offer the next.

    I'm not saying he is living off the Killie game but it is one good reason for him to be given a new deal, towards the end of last season he was looking back to his best as well. 20 goals in 57 matches, how many starts? and how many assists has he made withing that time as well ? He is not just about goals.
