anybody else looking forward to this, whats people thoughts on how the anthems will go after hodgson pleaded with fans to respect both, cant see it myself, and thoughts on the game, can see it being a bore 0-0 draw or maybe a 1-0 win either way.

    A total non-event.

England will probably win 1-0, and no one will care.

The only anthem England fans don't boo is the Northern Ireland anthem and that's only because it's the same anthem.

Ireland to win 3-0, Roy Hodgson to be on a massive tightrope that will snap at the World Cup.

Concerning the match itself unless theres a bit of hard tackling and a bit of pace to the play I can see England nicking a jammy goal or 2 to win.

A Non-event to you maybe, but to the thousands who have bought tickets and follow their national team it will be a big event and plenty of people will care.

GSTQ should never be respected, especially in Ireland.

    ROI squad for the game:

Forde, Coleman, O'Shea, St Ledger, Kelly, Walters, McCarthy, Whelan, McGeady, Keane, Long.

I hope Amhrán na bhFiann is sung lustily and * Save the Queen is booed with equal vigour. As for the match itself, an Ireland win will do nicely thanks.

Well, as an , ahem, Englishman , albeit one with Scots/Irish parentage I'd have to disagree!
Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly no royalist, but I think ALL national anthems should be respected at a sporting event. If you delve into any countries history you can find plenty of *, that some may think justifies booing an anthem, but with the possible exception of 'Deutschland Uber Alles' in the 1930's, I can't think of any.
And before anyone asks, yes I am well aware of Britains-at times shameful- history with Ireland.

Then you should be well aware of the fact that many Irish men and women were killed and imprisoned, and still are,in the Queen's name.I'm not being anti-English because we're all human and I don't see any point in disliking people because of where they're from, but that anthem celebrating the Monarch, all things considered, deserves no respect.

Will you be buying your FA anniversary T-Shirt, then? :bbpd:

International friendlies are, by their very nature, non-events.

Without wanting to get too much off the topic of the thread, I could argue that a fair few English civilians were killed in Ireland's name, but that certainly wouldn't make me disrespect the Irish anthem (I tend to join in with it!).
As for the game tomorrow, I'm afraid I can't get too excited about friendlies and doubt if I will even watch it, I will plump for a 2-0 England win , with about 38 meaningless sustitutions during the game, and a multitude of incredibly load, inane PA announcements from an 'MC' who sounds like he has half of Columbias recent exports up his nose, and thinks that football was invented by Sky in 1992.

Why would i be buying the FA t-shirt ?Ireland v England is not really a non-event if you are Irish or English and follow football.

Remember being younger and watching the images of the last game on tv. Pretty * up.

    Hopefully Ireland do them.

Actually hopefully it's either a 2-2 draw, McGeady scores first or both.

Can see an England win if Sturridge starts. But if Rooney plays, they won't win.
