Well I think the Irish have had enough abuse from Scotland to last them a lifetime, can you blame them for being defensive?

It's bad enough they have to endure it from small minded bigoted huns but it's now starting to creep into our own support.

It's a * state of affairs when our own support can't respectful of the country that played a huge part in the inception of our great club.

It seems to me that we have went from a club who was always immensely proud of where it came from, to a new breed coming in and not bothering about it, to another breed coming in and actively disliking it.

I really don't like where we are headed as a football club.

Glad to see you finally agree! It is * the Irish can't respect Scotland - the country of which Celtic are from.

I wouldn't exactly call it 'defensive'. What was defensive about some muppet making an unprovoked comment about Scotland on a thread about a player retiring :97:

Yet again, the poor wee Ireland card gets played.

I think Townsend refers to Engalnd as "we" also. The man is just a * in all fairness. Alan Hansen is another who refers to England as "we". They are two people whos voices go right through me.

I'm not saying you are a hun before anybody gets the wrong idea.

But do you realise that you post exactly like one of them?

Show us these quotes of the Irish lads being disparaging about Scotland, it should be easy as you claim it's rife on here.

    Excellent post! :50:
I wish more Scottish Celtic fans held this view.

I think Kris will be a great loss for Scotland, but I think some of Strachans selections hint towards getting more youth into the squad, which is something I'd love to see! :scotland:

Read the whole thread and I see nothing.

Couple of Scottish lads who don't like the national team that are glad he has pulled out.

Nothing like calling Irish people "tattie munchers", a * disgusting phrase used by the most bitter of huns.

Maybe he'll get an England call up. I heard he's good friends with Ledley so might have a chance for Wales. I can't post any more as I have a Zimbabwe trial soon.

That was me and I'm Scottish. :smiley-laughing002:

And I called them "shortbread tin types" , the ones who follow Scotland wearing kilts and jimmy hats... * embarrassing.

It doesn't even begin to compare to using the genocide of over a million people to describe them.

You need to take a good look at yourself pal.

It wasn't "shortbread tin" I know that for a fact.

    You're not Scottish, you're a plastic paddy.

C'mon mate, tattie muncher and plastic paddy? Those are terms commonly used by the filth. I hate to see them here.

I'm not sure why you are, but if you are offended by being called a shortbread muncher, is coming out with racist remarks the best thing to be doing?

How about Haggis bashers? I couldn't give two * if none of our players ever play for Scotland again. Honestly, you need to read your history books mate before you start getting unjustly surprised that the Irish in this country don't like Scotland. I have the misfortune to live here, it doesn't mean that I have to like the place. Your talking about a nation that for nearly two centuries has went out its way to outcast the Irish, make them feel like second class citizens and turn a blind eye to the verbal, racial and physical abuse we've all had to put up with. Your talking about a country that allows hoards of bigots to march up and down the street every summer, banging drums, shouting and singing about how they hate Irish Catholics and glorifying the mass murder of them. All done with police protection I might add. If this same treatment had been dished out to Muslims or Jews simply because they were from another country and of a different religion, the army would have been brought in to sort it out. But because we are Irish Catholics it is appeased it seems. Now think about it, why would you want to support a country like this on any level, at any sport or in anything it all. It is a bigot ridden * pit, and until that changes (not very likely) then I cannot muster even the slightest feeling of patriotism for Scotland.

I'm not trying to stir the * or anything folks but i don't think he meant that as any form of racism. I believe he was referring to the amount of our Celtic fans who don't even have Irish lineage who go to our games flying the tri-colour. I understand some of them are perhaps flying the colours of our club via the only national flag that represents them, but a lot of that lot go about as if they're full blooded Irish, which they aren't and as someone who does come from direct Irish blood it rather annoys me seeing them do this.

I only skip my parents generation until my blood is back in Cavan and Cork but i still love my Scottish roots more, as i'm Scottish.

Although the use of the term "Plastic paddy" was a bit too far i'd say, i kind of understand what the boy meant by it.

So if you find someone you feel is racist your response is to be racist yourself. This then excuses you for being racist as the other guy started it.

This is a false assumption. Your comments ("I hate those tattie munching types") are racist therefore you actually are a racist.

No, they don't. And why the * would that annoy you even if it was true, should you not be flattered people want to be the same race as you? Instead of bitter.
