Can't ever recall seeing him in a Scotland jersey so just shows how much of an impact he made for them !!

That says though I'm glad means he can concentrate on us

    Yes.

I would be pleased in a way if every one of our players retired from international football, if they were happy to do it that is.

But, I guess, that could possibly decrease the value of some of them.

The only reason he could play for Scotland is cause his granny was born in Dundee!

And he had some shortbread once. I'm not a fan of the grandparents rule. Embarrassing when you hear Andy Townsend saying 'we' when referring to Ireland.

International football is a farce... But the question has to be asked why he was constantly never picked!

Good riddance. A total lack of effort from him when playing. Belgium away was an absolute embarrassment.

He isn't the only one though - I'm looking at James Morrison here - and his international retirement can only mean good things for Celtic, where he has been in top form, I'd argue he's been our best player since the turn of the year.

A good decision all round I feel.

Better for Celtic since he will have more time to rest and less likely to pick up injuries. As a Scotland fan though it's a loss but they hey ho.

Bit of a stink in the tone of some of the replies in this thread.

Fair enough. Personally I like international football, although losing all the time does my head in!

Still better than the 'Irish'* national side.

All * would break loose if it was said about an Irish player.

They can dish it out but can't take it.

He'd probably be more Irish than most of that squad.
