There's arrogant people in every fan base. Some fans just take any opposition towards their club personally and lash out.

It's like you haven't read the last 5 odd pages :79:

To be fair from what little I read it does seem to be a minority opinion.

It's to be expected though whenever a club from England and Scotland are both in for the same player. Its's usually along the lines of us being a big fish in a small pond and whoever the English side are being the little fish in the big pond(excluding obvious teams)

Considering this is the Tonev topic, all talk about Balde (Bobo or the pretender) have little relevance [IMG]

All joking aside, if he comes to us it won't be because of money. It'll be the draw of being part of a squad all of a similar age with ambition and the draw of the PL. We don't offer big wages!

You'll offer bigger wages than us; the noises he was making about wanting to be in the Champions League (if true) and then signing for Villa doesn't make sense until you put money into the equation.

You can offer bigger wages than us, so i disagree. I don't think there can be much difference between the draw of mediocre epl sides or spl champions. It's all a stepping stone to bigger things, just depends where you are going to get more money getting to where you want to go.

He's coming from a similar league to Benteke, who we gave 20k for. Benteke went straight into our first team which Tonev won't do (Weimann and Gabby are very much first choice).

Can see us offering 15k max, which you can definitely offer.

We can offer that but we won't. £15k a week is a very valuable member of our squad which Tonev will not start on; even Giorgios Samaras is reported to still be on about £14k a week and he is like gold dust when it comes to Europe for us. Only Broony and Ledley really break the £20k bracket. Everyone else is much lower.

Ah fair enough. I didn't think your ceiling was as low as that. Your comment about money is probably justified then.

I think brown is actually on closer to 30000 at the moment, Ledley is similiar.

We do push the boat out for people we really; really think will improve the squad. It's how we ended up with Victor Wanyama when there was strong interest from Villa. We went and made him wanted and gave him a very decent starting wage because we saw the potential in him.

Joe Ledley likewise; we started off very high for Celtic to fend of interest from teams lower in the Premiership and Roma. Scott Brown is our captain so he's got the major contract.

Even the likes of Hooper and that apparently aren't at £20k. The wages we can offer fluctuate greatly if we have a good run at the Champions League or not. If we do what we done this year in Europe we might be able to flex a bit of muscle next year but our board is far to conservative to go out of our wage structure.

Everyone is mostly performance based contracts.

What's Wanyama on? I always thought he was on next to nothing.

Think the lad might be wanting to go to Villa for the money - and fair enough, not everyone has the same mentality as, say, Samaras. Medals over money; money over medals.

Anyway, can't believe no Villa fans have thanked us for letting them have Barry Bannan......:icon_mrgreen:
