Is Samaras a good shout for player of the season?

So once again Samaras is the hero for Celtic after scoring an excellent winning goal to beat Aberdeen 4-3 in the last minute of the game.

We all know Samaras has not exactly been everyones favourite player in the past but I think he has been one of Celtics most important players over the last couple of seasons.

Here are some reasons why Samaras should be voted player of the season

• Very Skillful and pacy player
• One of our best performers in Europe scoring five goals
• Has almost single handedly destroyed Oldco rangers in the past (Ibrox - rangers 0 Celtic 2 Jan 2011)
• European defences cant handle him and hate playing against him
• Even when he not playing well he never hides
• Is commited to Celtic
• He never gave up hope at Celtic even though at one point nearly every Celtic fan wanted him out the door and he even got booed when running onto the pitch after coming off the bench.
• He is a big game player, badly missed him in the 3-0 defeat to Juve
• He loves playing for Celtic and you dont hear any stories about him wanting to go and play in the Premiership

Big Sammy must be our longest serving player in the current team and its time every Celtic supporter acknowledged he is a special player. Sammy should be given Player of the Season 2012/13, * knows he deserves it.:icon_mrgreen:

 

European form alone would put him in with a shout.

 

yeah, him or wilson should win it in my opinion.

 

First ever Celtic player to score in five consecutive European away games, all coming this season.

That alone is enough to put him in with a shout.

 

Been injured too much

 

Really .I would feel like * if i was a player in that team knocking my pan in every week ,just for someone to score 5 goals and win player of the year .

Considering will probably have played over 50 games by the end of the season ,i see other players rather than sammi getting the award,

 

All things considered, no one in that team has really knocked their pan in week in week out.

Sammy will have as good a chance as anyone.

 

I love big Sammy but I have to say no because every reason you've given apart from his goals in Europe this season have been accumulated over the course of several seasons and the whole point of a player of the year award is to give it to the player who's been outstanding over the course of one whole season. You're basically saying he deserves it because he's been at Celtic a long time and hasn't won that accolade yet.

 

What does that have to do with being this years POTY?

I dont think Sameras has played enough this season to be our POTY.

Kelvin Wilson is the only stand out for me right now.

 

Yes he deserves it for me. Probably been his best season at the club so far in my opinion. That period missed through injury is not significant enough to make him not get the award for me, and if anything the way he bounced back to continue his form puts him in an even better position for it.

Above all its been after a campaign with lots of good performances from various players, who now appear to be looking forward to see what other potential moves lie in store for them, but big Sammy is happy just to be here at the club.

 

Love him. But can be lazy in the SPL, In Europe he was superb.

 

Think this is just a knee * reaction to his goal today...

 

6 goals, 4 assists in 19 games in the League for Sammy this season. 5 goals in Europe, and an assist and won the penalty against Spartak.

11 goals and 5 assists in 32 games this season. Not taking into account any penalties won as I can only remember the one against Spartak.

He's been great this season, in terms of performances it's his best since he arrived. He's best goal tally was 17 in 08/09, he probably won't be that, but that doesn't matter. Nearly every goal he's scored has been vital.

Not sure if he should be POTY but he should be in with a shout in my opinion.

 

There hasn't been a stand out performer for me, so I'd be tempted to give it to our top European performers like Samaras and Forster.

Lets see if he can get to 20 for the season. Hes been outstanding this season though.
