Aye, you can probably sum up Saha in the two games against us back then, at Old Trafford he was unstoppable, we couldn't get anywhere near him or Scholes that night.

At Celtic Park his bottle completely crashed, never saw anything like that in my life. The one he was through and stopped because he thought he was offside then the missed penalty.

he had those games, true, but even when he played badly he made others better, and thats the sign of a great player. thats something rooney had for a bit but lost some time ago. Scholes had it for many years, so did robbo, now no one has it in the current team

You thought Saha was going to be the best French striker of alltime, Duncan? Christ, he wasn't that good. :smiley-laughing002: He barely got any caps/goals for France.

If I hadn't seen Saha play and read your description of him I'd have thought he was one of the best players of his generation. He was no more than a good player, a 7/10.

Aye, I don't think he was ever going to be an Henry but at his best he was * different class. His problem was he wasn't at his best enough.

Kinda similar to a Samaras that way.

Personally, I think labelling him 'different class' is being overly kind mate. He was very good at his best, nothing more.

Looking his stats up, in 12 seasons in the Premier League he only got into double figures twice - 03/04 for Fulham/Utd & 09/10 for Everton. That's not impressive at all.

It's not, consistency was his problem.

A major attribute of being a class player is consistency though.

Doubt I'd have him in the top 10 best Utd strikers in the last 15 years.

Agreed mate, which is why I said when he played at his very best and likened him to Sammy. He never had that run of consistency from what I saw, just turned it on in some games.

    :50:

Doing a bit of ILoveTheCeltic here :smiley-laughing002: but since 2000 I'd rate these forwards higher:

    Yorke
    Soljskaer
    Sheringham
    Cole
    Van Nistelrooy
    Rooney
    Ronaldo
    Berbatov
    Tevez
    Van Persie

Im a bit biased, I loved the guy, but without injuries he'd been awesome, he was selfless, always team over himself, had a passing vision that henry objectively didnt have, he saw football with a clarity of vision that made him different. When we signed him from fulham he was taking the league by storm, but mentally he wasnt ready for the top, top echelon of competition

I loved watching him play in the flesh, when you were in the stadium you could see the kind of movement he had, his understanding of the game, were superb, rooney loved him because he made the scouse look far better than he was

going back to rooney, hes finished IMO, Id be amazed if he's still playing at united next season, van gaal is ruthless, * sell him in the summer if anyone wants to take him out of our hands

I think it will be us. Will be a far better spectacle with Celtic over Everton.

Stuart Pearce mentioned us on talksport for it. Would make more sense for it to be Everton though. I think the Everton fans are ok with him now

It'll be Everton, would like it to be Celtic though.

Don't see why anyone would have a problem with that happening?

I know, it'd be great, like Rooney a lot. Good player. :50:
