This comes across as a bit infantile. I appreciate that there are some who would like tougher sentencing or corporal punishment, but daily kickings? Silly.

The current prison system is a failure, the average cost per prisoner is approx £35,000 a year which I think is diabolical because there are families out there that work their * off all year and will be lucky to get £12,000. The government approaches this in such a poor way, they may as well say "they are off the streets, what else do you want us to do?". Executing murderers etc is the easy way out, they should be given nothing but time to reflect on the bad things that they have done.

However, then there is a debate as to whether prisoners are there as a punishment or for rehabilitation, personally I think it should be both depending of circumstances. Prison should be made to look like *, not a feckin holiday for criminals. It is pointless putting tax dodgers and the likes in prison. They should be made an example of out on the streets.

Just normal punters, bit like jury service, only you sign up for it and get £500 for every sick * you give the kicking to

That seems a real workable system. Strange how no other country has adopted such a wonderfully thought out justice system. I assume steel toecapped boots will be provided?

Absolutely. Wouldn't bring it in for armed robbery, drug trafficking or even murder if it is a crime of passion but rapists, paedophiles and serial killers I'd tie them to the post and stick the blindfold on them.

I'm a leftist but the criminal justice is the one area I think the left is naive and rose tinted. If someone has raped someone, or abused a kid or killed someone in cold blood they are beyond redemption and the world would be a better place without them. To think that people like Ted Bundy, Ian Huntly or Ian Brady can be rehabilitated and turned into a functioning member of society is insane; and spending money on putting a roof over them, feeding them, providing them with medical care for decades seems an absolute waste of tax revenue when that money could be used on education, welfare and healthcare.

There isn't a judicial system in the history of the planet that has adopted such a ludicrous notion. If you want to argue for tougher prisons or even the death penalty, then do so, instead of this ridiculous nonsense.

    Because it's stupid

    Because it's unworkable

    Because it's illegal internationally
